Love Lands?

Me and my friends were wondering around our school campus. We all had skipped since we hated our shared math class. My friend, Usagi had been talking about her "complicated" class schedules.

The school year had just started with a week in, as we still weren't used to our classes. The school campus guard saw us. "Why aren't you three in class?!" He shouted.

I took Usagi's and Mila's hand, running down the hall. We began sprinting faster and turned into the women's restroom, locking the stall door behind us. We heard jangling keys running past the bathroom and them becoming fainter down the pass way.

I looked at my friends with wide eyes and raised eyebrows as we began chuckling. "We almost got caught!" Mila said, panting while her hand was on her chest.

I grinned, "Good thing we didn't." Usagi nodded in agreement. As we all began to catch our breath, the lights suddenly shut off. We started muttering confused sayings. What happened to the lights?

After a few seconds, the lights brightly shut back on. We traded confused looks as we unlocked the door and slowly walked outside. The loud chatter we earlier heard had stopped, the whole world had seemed to went quiet?

It was seriously eerie. Mila had stuck behind me while Usagi walked in front of us, looking around. "Hello?" She shouted, no response.

"I heard Nezumi has Gym this period, we should check if she or someone's there." Mila said as we both nodded in agreement.

We began running down the passage way leading to the Gym across the campus. We reached there and shoved the door open, finding it completely empty.

We looked up at the basketball leader board, it was off but suddenly appeared white with black bold letters reading, "Game About To Commence."

I raised a brow and looked at my friends. "Are y'all behind this?" I asked them. They looked at me and shook their heads. "I thought you were behind this." Usagi said.

As we were looking at the leader board we heard footsteps behind us. We all turned around towards the bathrooms and saw Nezumi, walking out with a joint between their fingers.

She looked up at us and looked around the room, confused. "Did class end already?"

"No, everyone just disappeared, we've been trying to find someone." I said as I walked over by her, slinging my arm around her shoulder while I took the joint out of her hand.

"So what's the deal with the white table in the middle? Y'all playing checkers?" Nezumi said as we all looked towards the table while I took a puff out of the joint, handing it back to her.

We all started walking towards the table with 5 phones with a white card above them reading, "One phone per person."

We all grabbed one each, staring at the one phone unclaimed. There was a countdown with only 50 seconds left. We heard the gym door screech open as I turned my head.

A guy who looked our age walked in, looking confused. "Oh, thank god I finally found someone. This place is like a ghost town."

I grabbed the unclaimed phone and handed it to him as he walked up to us. He hesitated before grabbing it. "Do y'all know what's happening?"

He looked down at the white phone screen, reading the same text. We all shook our heads no. "We've been trying to figure out, the leader board says there's a game about to start." Mila said.

"I guess we'll find out when the countdown stops." I suggested. We all looked down at our phones with 15 seconds left. My heart anticipated as the time went down. My gut twisted more, something bad was gonna happen.

The timer reached 0 as it began flashing red. A loud robotic voice began speaking from the intercom speakers.

"Game now commencing. Game: Simon Says. Difficulty: Three of Diamonds. Rules: Obey what Simon tells you. If you hear HIS voice, obey. If you hear her voice, don't obey." The voice echoed across the gym.

"Let the game commence." The leader board went back to black. We all exchanged confused looks as the intercom turned on again.

"Jump." A female voice said. I looked at everyone. Male means obey. Female means disobey. I saw Mila's knees bend as I quickly put my hands on her shoulders.

"Male means we do what they say. Female means we don't." I said as everyone looked at me and nodded. A loud chime came from the speakers as the leader board showed a large green check mark.

"Aim a basketball goal." A male voice said on the speakers. We all ran over to the stand of basketballs when the leader board glowed a timer of 45 seconds. I shoved the phone in my pocket and grabbed a ball while everyone stood in a line behind me, I threw the ball at the hoop.

It circled around the rim and went in, a loud chime came on and the board showed 5 pictures, each of our faces. The only lit up picture was mine and the rest were dim.

Mila threw the basketball and made it. Her picture lit up next on the board. The timer lit up with 30 seconds left.

As Usagi grabbed her ball, aiming for the goal Nezumi looked at her picture. "They could've gotten a better angle." She shrugged.

Another chime went off as Usagi's picture lit up. Nezumi grabbed the ball and threw it at the hoop. It went through as another chime went off, her picture lighting up. The timer lit up with 15 seconds left.

The guy quickly threw the ball, as it bounces off the rim and rolls over to me. I pick it up and throw it back to him as I turned my head towards the board. "Hurry up! We only have 10 seconds left." Usagi shouted as he threw the ball again, landing it through the hoop.

The last chime went off with his picture lighting up. The board went black then we heard another voice.

"Dodge." A male voice said through the intercom.
