|Aveline's POV|

"Marvel is better than DC and that's a fact. I won't be hearing any arguments on this shit," Zale muttered from his seat, "accept it and move on, people."

"I very much prefer DC."

"Oh fuck off, you only like that because you think Wonder Woman is hot—" Zale paused, shaking his head at Rhys's words, "which she is, but that's not a good enough reason. Black widow is hotter anyway."

"Agreed," Ryver comments before taking a bite of the apple he had allowed himself to grab from the fruit basket earlier.

"Boys," Nat huffed from beside me making me chuckle as I say, "it's not a boy thing. I prefer Marvel too." Nat has never been one to watch any movies unless it's high school romance or some romance shit. It's honestly kinda boring but whatever.

"I love you," Zale mutters dramatically, smirking at Rhys who widens his eyes in fake shock. His voice drips with sarcasm when he speaks, "like we didn't fucking know that. Your wallpaper is iron man, you child."

I most certainly didn't expect my Saturday to turn out like this. All of us, excluding Nick, are at Zale's house just hanging out. Zale isn't feeling very well so he didn't bother going to work and if he's not going then neither are Rhys or Ryver. And Nat and I, well we don't need to be at the club twenty four seven for us to make money.

"Before I forget," Nat suddenly speaks which has all of us giving her our whole attention, "my parents' anniversary is Tuesday night, that is, in three days and you're all invited."

Desmond and Matilda, Nat's parents, are extremely 'fancy' people but they're really nice. Every year, they have parties among other things and we get invited although I'd hardly go because I hate it.

There's always a lot of people — too much for my liking and I'd feel incredibly uncomfortable which would result in me leaving early then feeling bad for doing so but I can't help it. Nat understands though, she knows how I feel about parties and crowds.

However, their anniversary is not something I'd ever bail on. Matilda has always been like the mother I've never have to me and I know for a fact that their anniversary party is the most important event she holds so I try to stay. Everyone in our group has always attended it since the Edkins are very likeable people. Well everyone except Nick, of course.

"Me too?" Ryver asks with his brows raised, "they don't even know me."

"They are going to," Nat shrugs, "and yes, you too. All my friends are always invited."

"Are your parents rich?" Ryver questions, taking another bite from his apple. "Do I have to wear a suit or some shit?"

"Yes," Zale is the one who answered, "it's a rich people kinda party. Wine, suits, manners, dresses. Them are thy requirements."

"I think that's why Nick doesn't attend," Rhys jokes, "he doesn't have manners."

"Or maybe he just don't wanna put them to use," Nats nutters with a shrug, "where's he anyway?"

Great question. I haven't seen him ever since he came in my room the other day which was around three days ago.

I haven't been doing any research because he told me he'd do it for me — or have someone do it— and I'm actually taking his word for it. But his disappearance for three days is kinda worrying me.

This is the mafia we're taking about, not some stupid gang. What if he's landed himself into trouble?

Holy fuck.
