Jake's friends are staring at us while they talk.

Di seems really nice and I like her so far.  Her boyfriend Mix, I'm not sure of yet.

Brian keeps grinning at Jake like he knows something, and Kegan is looking back and forth between us.  He is probably wondering why Jake is even talking to me.

I am still wondering that myself.

"Is your brother having another party tonight?"  Jake asks me.

"No, he's having a girl over.  Thus the reason I need to be gone all night."

"Where will you go?"  Di asks me.

"The Phoenix Inn, or one of the places out by the freeway.  He gave me enough money."

"You should pocket his money and come stay with us for the night.  We have a large sofa you could sleep on."  Di offers.

"No.  I couldn't.  We just met.  You don't need a stranger on your sofa."

"We all live together. "  Jake tells me.  "Come."

I can feel my face flame.  "Jake, I'm too embarrassed."  I whisper.

"You'd be safer with us, than by yourself."  He insists.

"Come.  Then buy yourself a sweatshirt in your own size with your brothers money."  Brian puts in.

I take a deep breath and let it out slowly.  "Okay."

"Great!  Let's take this party home then."  Di jumps up and Mix follows suit so that he doesn't get stepped on.

As soon as I get up Di grabs my hand and we walk ahead of the guys.  "I like having another girl in the group."

"Thanks Di.  You and Jake are the first friends that I've made since I've moved here."

"How come you just moved here when your brother has been here for four?"

"He is on a scholarship.  I had to settle for junior college my first two years."

"My sister will be coming next year.  That is, if she keeps her grades up.  Mom and Dad have been hounding both of us since the eighth grade to do well."

"Are you sure it's okay for me to stay, Di?  Kegan didn't look too happy about it."

"Don't worry about him.  He's always grumpy.  It's not you.  He had a fit when I started staying with Mix, but he's okay with it now."

"Okay."

"Besides, Jake will feel better if you do.  I could tell that he didn't like the Phoenix Inn idea."

I look back at Jake.  "I can't believe he even talks to me, Di.  My brother's friends treat me like I have a disease."

"Well, I don't know what made him talk to you, but I am glad he did!  I can't wait to show you my movie collection!  We can send the boys somewhere else and watch Fifty Shades of Grey."

I grin at her.  "Definitely not watching that if they are in the room!"

"Jaime Dornan can come and kidnap me any day!"  Di sighs.

We giggle stupidly.
