Sadie's friends hadn't talked to her for the past two days. She didn't know whether it was because she was basically a kook at this point or if she had done something wrong, but it was genuinely getting to her head.
Ever since she and her mother moved in with Matt and Scotty, the only communication she'd get with the Pogues was a glance or two in her direction. It hurt, to be honest. Completely being ghosted by your only friends was confusing, to say the least.
But she didn't have time to mope with moving in. She was finally getting to the point where she was almost done setting up her room, and Sadie was pretty happy with the way it turned out.
On one wall held a singular window that led out to the roof, her curtains basically see through and white. The opposing wall was filled entirely with windows, and that's where her bed laid. One of the walls between them had a large tapestry of stars and the moon on it, and the one that opposed that was filled with photos of not only her time in Outerbanks, but in Italy as well. She had lived there majority of her life, after all.
Of course, throughout the room there were little trinkets that she had collected over the years; mainly consisting of things from Italy, but her room was pretty basic. It had white and light-grey walls, both of them being toned down as to where they weren't a blinding-white.
Knocking on her window withdrew her from her thoughts. How somebody had managed to get on her roof and to her window, Sadie didn't know. But her curiosity got the best of her and she couldn't help but approach the glass pane and see who was on the other side.
She lifted up her window, sticking her head out slightly and seeing that a blonde boy was leaning against the wall and trying his best not to lose his balance. She recognized him as one of the boys from the Country Club the other day, and she wondered what he was doing here, let alone how he knew where she lived.
"Sadie, right?" The blonde boy questioned, smiling slightly and moving his sunglasses that concealed his eyes up and onto his forehead. She took notice to the gesture, seeing that his eyes were a relevantly bright blue that complimented the rest of his features.
"Yeah? Who are you?" She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, leaning out of the window a bit more and trying to see if she could spot her mother and Matthew talking. Fortunately, she couldn't, which meant they couldn't see the boy up at her window.
"Shit, my bad. I'm Topper, but you can call me Top. I'm Scotty's friend." He sputtered out, seeing that this must seem really weird; a boy randomly appearing at her window without saying who he was or how he knew her.
"Oh. Why are you at my window?" She blinked after leaning back into her window a bit, still being out of it and keeping her eye on him. He smiled and chuckled softly, realizing that it was a completely reasonable question.
"Matt kind of hates me and he and your mom were at the front door. My girlfriend was wondering about you after Scotty mentioned a girl moving in with him and yet he was still to lazy to come get you himself. Look, I know this is weird, but Sarah really wants to meet you and my friends and I are all setting up a party right now; you should come."
"Here, just come in. I don't want you falling." Sadie muttered after hearing Topper rant for a hot minute, backing up into her room and allowing him to come into the room with her. She truly didn't want him falling; it would just get her into trouble and he could get hurt.
"Thanks. Nice room." Topper mentioned awkwardly, signaling to the tapestry that covered majority of one of her walls, taking quite and interest in it. "Sarah's into all that star stuff too." He signaled toward the tapestry, turning and smiling at Sadie.
She nodded softly, her eyes attaching to the piece of fabric that was hung amongst her wall. Her father was the one who taught her about astronomy in the first place, and since then, she took a specific interest in it.
