Flamekit ran squealing outside the nursery. He'd been out only about half a dozen times before, and he definitely wasn't going to let the cranky old elders get in his way. He was practically screaming now, with Skykit on his tail. They were playing rabbit- the best game in the name of games. At least, the games he knew of. He only knew one.
Anyway, Skykit was closing in fast. She may've been older, but she was lighter and swifter- unlike Flamekit, who kept clonking around on his big paws and tripping over absolutely nothing. He thought he could outrun her... But, like always, she was too fast. Flame kit tripped and fell flat on his face as Skykit toppled over him. Then, out of nowhere, Goldenkit, Thistlekit, and Redkit jumped on top, with Flamekit on the bottom. Luckily, he got out alive.
Four siblings? Nope. Flamekit was only blood related to Redkit, his brother. Skykit, Goldenkit, and Thistlekit were part of an entirely different older litter. But since Flamekit's mother- Stormsky- died kitting him, he and Redkit had been taken over by Skyfur, mother of Skykit's litter. (Skykit was named after her, obviously). Five kits might seem like a lot for one queen, but Skyfur was the only nursing queen available... Not to mention Stormsky and her were VERY close. No way she would've turned down taking care of Stormsky's kits.
Anyway, as Flamekit managed to crawl out of the kit pile, he thought about how boring rabbit was getting. They'd been playing it for the past... Like... Ten minutes! There had to be something better to do. He ran up to Skyfur, who'd been watching intently by the nursery.
"Skyfur, let's go outside camp!"
Skyfur cocked her head, as if thinking how to break the bad news to him.
"Sweetie, you can't do that until your an apprentice. Six moons old. That's the rule. But think- you still have the whole camp to explore!"
Flamepelt frowned. He had seen the whole camp. It was getting old. He'd heard DeathClan territory was huge, so huge it was the size of WindClan and Thunderclan combined. That would never get old. He wanted to argue, but he knew better than to do it with Skyfur. She was too witty.Flamekit wanted to scream. She was on top of him now...
With a lunge, she grabbed his tail and they went toppling down in a big pile of kit.
"Hey!" Said Flamekit
Skykit flicked a piece of dust off her paw.
"What, you were the one that wanted to play!"
Out of the blue, another kit pummeled onto them.
"I wanna play!"
It was Amberkit, one of the older kits of the nursery. She was five moons old- nearly enough to be an apprentice- but sometimes Flamekit (as well as EVERYONE else) thought she'd never grow up. Even though Flamekit was several moons younger, (Flamepelt being 3 moons old) she was nearly the same size as him. Not because Amberkit was small, but because Flamekit had grown so fast. When nobody answered her as to whether or not she could play, she opened her mouth to bombard the two with a million questions. Before she could, though there was a shadow above them.
Just then Flamekit realized they'd rolled all the way over to the leader's den on the other side of camp.
"Ahem" said a voice above. "If you'll excuse me, I'm trying to sleep. I'm not usually this forgiving..." He began to pick his claws "... But you three are just kits. Run along."
Then Flamekit couldn't stand the curiosity anymore. He'd never seen the cat before... Yet he recognized him on the spot.
He wore a tuxedo and a mask, a bowtie around his neck.
It was the leader
It was Phantom.
