Bring! Bring!
Rang Shuichi's phone. He picked up the phone and held it up to his ear.
"Hello?" He asked.
"Shuichi? It's me, Kirie." The voice on the other end replied.
"Oh.. Yes. Hey, Kirie." He said, softly.
"Look, Shuichi... My parents don't want me around you anymore. They think I'm going to run off with you. So, we need to break it off. I'm sorry." Kirie apologized, her voice sad.
"What—? But, Kirie!"
"I-I'm sorry, Shuichi."
Bleep... bleep... bleep....
——————————
I recently Moved to Korozu-chō. I've been living in Midoriyamashi since I was a little girl, and going to school there. Recently though, I've been transferred to Korozu-chō by My family. They rented me a student apartment here by the school.
I'm not to bothered by this change, I now live near my best friend, Shuichi Saito. Recently, He stopped going to school in Midoriyamashi, And I have no idea why. So today, after school, I decided to drop by his house to pay him a visit.

I've been to Shuichi's house before, and I live right next to him now anyway. I ring the doorbell to his house and wait. I decided to bring him a bento aswell. I used to do that all the time when he went to school, but since he stopped coming, I haven't had the chance to.

Shuichi opened the door, and he looked awful. His hair was messy, his face was pale, and he looked like he hadn't eaten in days.
"Hello...?" He asked, quietly.
"Shuichi—!? What happened to you??" I exclaim.
"Huh- (Y/n)...? What are you doing here...?"
"I just transferred here! But nevermind that, You look Awful! Here, I made you a Bento." I say, Practically shoving the neatly wrapped box into his arms. Shuichi looked at the package, and then at me.

"...Come in, And I'll tell you everything."
————————————————————
Me and Shuichi sat at his table while he ate his bento, and explained everything to me. From the death of his parents, to the Young couple he saw slink into the sea.

"Shuichi... I- I had no idea any of this happened... I'm so sorry for you." I say, sympathicly.
"It's fine. It's not your fault. Look, (Y/n). You can't stay here in Korozu-chō." He said, In a Dark voice while he ate the bento

"What—? Why?" I Ask, tilting my head.
"This town... Is cursed." He replied.
"Cursed-? By what??" I pry.
"This town is cursed... Cursed by the spiral. This town is what drove both my parents to kill themselves. Spirals... this town is infested with Spirals..."
"...Spirals...? Like... The pattern?" I furrow my brow.
"I'm Serious, (Y/n)! You need to leave this place, before it gets you too!" He exclaimed, Standing up.
"Shuichi, I— I need to go!" I said, Awkwardly before standing and running out abruptly.

Shuichi Saito had gone off the deep end. It hurts to hear all this awful things that have happened to him, But I can't leave Korozu-chō! I love Shuichi, and I always have, and it breaks my heart to see what he's become.

I push open the door to my student apartment, take off my shoes and head to bed. It's the evening, But I didn't feel like staying up. I was so tired.

I wake up the next morning feeling drained. I dragged myself out of bed and started getting ready for the day. I felt... completely devoid of energy, and my back was sore. I grabbed my hairbrush and when to the mirror.

As I brushed my hair, I noticed something strange. I had grown a lot taller then I remember being last time.
I got ready and put on my uniform.
"Huh-? It doesn't fit my anymore. Weird... i just got it!"
I went to my vanity and looked in the mirror, which I had to crouch to look down at.
I have grown at least 6 inches, I'd say. I looked at the mirror in disbelief. I decided to ignore it for now and head to school.
..........
(Time skip to gym.)

We were playing dodgeball, and while I was busy trying to get my back to stop aching, someone threw a dodgeball right at me and my face. I gasped and closed my eyes, and attempted to lean back to avoid the ball as I waited for impact.
... it never came. All that there was... was a large crack and silence.

As I opened one eye, I saw the feet of everyone standing around me, gawking it horror.

"Weird.. how come I can see their legs-? I'm still standing!"

I realize what's going on.
That cracking sound was the sound of my back cracking. Somehow, my body contorted itself so far that my head was touching the back of my feet.

I screamed I'm horror as I somehow snapped back, my back perfectly straight again, if not just a little curved. Everyone stared in amazement.

"Whoa... that was incredible, (Y/n)! Do it again!" A boy with a strange face calls out. Another girl, a ginger, looked like she was about to puke. Her friend was with her. I looked around before running as fast as I can away from the school.

As I came up to my house's front door, I realized that was was the same height as the door frame. I staggered back in a panic. My limbs felt all noodly and I felt a horrible sense of vertigo. I looked around in a panic and noticed Shuichi's house. I desperately crawled there and knocked at the door.

TOK TOK
"SHUICHI!"
I cried out, feeling like my body was about to contort itself into a knot. Shuichi flung open the door.
"(Y/N)-?! What happened?!" He cried trying to help me stand up, but I fell into him. My legs couldn't support me anymore.

"Shuichi... please help me..."
I said quietly, feeling myself starting to fade. Shuichi stared at me in horror. He quickly grabbed a backpack, slinging it over his shoulder, scooping me up bridal style and running. The last thing I saw before I blacked out was Shuichi, pale as he ran as fast as he could. My eyes fluttered shut as I saw a thick line of trees.

.........

I woke up later, in the forest... at night. I felt myself surrounded by warmth.
I looked up to find Shuichi, tending to a fire while my head lay in his lap.

"Shuichi...?"
I muttered, rubbing my eyes.

He looked at me, a look of relief on his face.
"Hey. I was worried about you."
He said, his voice bleek.

"Shuichi-, Where are we-? What happened?" I ask, trying to wrap my head around what happened.

"You were caught by the spiral, so I took you and ran away from  Korozu-chō.
Right now we're in the woods between Midoriyamashi and Korozu-chō."
He said, looking back at the fire.
"Your body was going to contort itself into a spiral it we didn't leave."

"S-So you weren't... Oh Shuichi..."
I cut myself off as I hug him tightly, resting my head against his chest.
"I'm so sorry for doubting you..."

Shuichi put his hand on my cheek and swept a strand of hair out of my face.
"It's fine. You're not dead, and that's what matters. I know you just woke up, but you got to get some more rest. We have a lot of walking to do tomorrow when I bring you back home to your parents in Midoriyamashi."

Shuichi said, his dark eyes staring into the Aybss. I held into him tighter.
"No. Where ever you go, I'll go with you. I don't want you to be be alone. I love you."

Shuichi smiled sadly as he looked down at me again.

"...If you insist. We'll take a train in Midoriyamashi to get away from this town. I don't know where we'll go yet."

I kissed his cheek.

"It doesn't matter where we go, as long as we're together."

He kissed the top of my head.
"Get some rest, (Y/n). We'll talk about it in the way to Midoriyamashi."
