Chapter 3 - getting to know the new girl

Matheo's pov:
When introducing myself as a Riddle most people are either judgemental towards me, curious and ask a bunch of questions about my father or just get scared off and leave, to be honest, I was expecting y/n to be one of the ones to get scared off, although to my surprise she pretty much payed no attention to the name and just gave me a smile and moved on, a genuine smile too, not an awkward one that secretly said: "can we change topics now because this making me uncomfortable".
It made me want to grin right back at her but I know one of the boys would pipe up and make a joke about it so instead I just gave her a friendly look, once again to my surprise she actually made eye contact with me this time , staring me directly in the eyes softly. At first, she seemed nervous, probably because we just met her, she sat next to Pansy fiddling with her hands under the table and often looking down or momentarily averting her gaze elsewhere, although it was cute I didn't want her to feel nervous around me, but once she made eye contact with me she appeared to stop fidgeting and relaxed, as if time itself had stopped freezing her along with it. Her eyes were soothing for the few seconds she held my gaze as I told her about her unusual sorting into Slytherin, but unfortunately, she soon turned her attention away as the others decided to start asking her questions.

"So y/n, how come you're in Slytherin if you're related to Hermione" questioned Blaise, I was curious about that too it's rare that siblings aren't in the same house, especially twins, which y/n and Hermione must be if they're the same age.
"Well Hermione and I aren't actually blood-related" she replied, making me intrigued,
"Wait really, are you the adopted one then? cuz you don't seem like a mudblood like her" spoke Draco, God he's dumb sometimes, why would he insult Hermione in front of y/n? I lightly hit Draco on the back of his head for being stupid which pissed him off but the others found it funny.
"Ow what the fuck was that for you prick"
"Why would you insult Hermione in front of
y/n" I responded
"No don't worry about it, I'm not really friends with her anyway so it's fine" she explained with a small giggle,
"That's good to know" spoke Theo with a tone of humour "because she and her friends don't like us very much,"
"but how come you're not friends with her?" Inquired Pansy
"Well she doesn't exactly like me very much either" was her response to the question, which was surprising because y/n seemed so nice, I wonder what she did for Hermione to not like her.
Then Theo spoke again "I thought Hermione was supposed to be a genius or something, I guess not because she must be stupid to not like someone as nice as you" while doing so he glared at y/n with a certain glint in his eyes as if trying to subtly flirt with her, the smirk he held portrayed the same impression. Theo was definitely trying to get under y/n's skin and it kind of pissed me off.

Even though I just met this girl there was something about her that made me want to be with her, and I'm not just talking about fucking  her or having a week-long relationship with her to get my mind off all the other shit going on in my life, I'm talking about actually spending time with her, however, Theo was acting all flirtatious towards her, the main reason it Pissed me off was because he does this with almost every girl. First just giving them a seductive look but I know soon he will make a move on her, luckily, I don't think she even noticed that he was flirting though, she doesn't seem to be an expert in the whole romance thing, from what I've seen so far she appears to be more on the innocent side, I doubt she's lost her virginity yet, but like I said that's my type.

"Wait so y/n, why did you get adopted by the Grangers, aren't they muggles" asked Enzo, breaking my train of thought.
"Umm I don't know, I guess they just wanted to" y/n replied, though her tone was odd as if she was unsure or unwilling to share something with us, why is this girl so mysterious?
"How old were you when they adopted you?" I asked bluntly, trying to get more information on this topic as she seemed to be hiding something, which intrigued me,
"Um 14"
"14? Then why didn't you join Hogwarts during 4th year" Draco chimed in, once again I was wondering the same thing,
"Well Hermione didn't want me to"
Seriously, she wasn't allowed to go to school because her sister didn't want her to, I didn't know Hermione was that controlling
"Did you not get a say in the situation?" I asked "surely it's your decision whether you want to join or not"
" no, but I didn't mind it that much, anyway, I have to go now guys, professor Snape told me to meet him outside the Slytherin common rooms to get my uniform," she told nervously as she got up from the seat she was sitting in.
Without thinking first I suddenly said  "I'll come" making the whole group turn to look at me.
"Are you sure? You can stay here and eat breakfast if you want" she replied
"You're new, how will you know where to go? The school is pretty big and I would want you getting lost" I declared also getting up from my seat across from her, I could tell Theo was jealous I offered before he had the chance, making a smirk line my lips
"Oh yeah, you're right, it would be great for you to come" a gentle smile lit up her face as she spoke. This was my chance to get to know her a little better before anyone else could, I needed to know more about her.
