Chan couldn't help but to have a bad feeling. He usually tried to stay out of things but this, this was different. This was Jisung, his always happy friend who would do anything for the group. The same Jisung who was now almost a ghost of himself. He couldn't help but to overthink, he knew it was probably not a big deal, He was probably just fine. He just couldn't shake the feeling.
He seemed like a quiet, less confident version of himself. He always avoided eye contact now and never even acknowledged his presence. He always seemed slouched over like he was constantly tired.
Nothing made sense to Chan about the sudden withdrawal from the group or the almost blank canvas Jisung seemed to be becoming. He was almost nothing without Jeno now. Like his soul was sucked away until Jeno was around. A honeymoon phase would surely be up by now. No one had recently had an argument with him or had any issues with him at all. It just didn't make sense.
He seemed happy when he was around Jeno. He would laugh and smile. His confidence seemed better and he seemed to have a sort of glow around him. It just made no sense for Jisung to be this affected when Jeno was or wasn't around. What if it was a façade?
The text the group chat had received was another mystery. It was a weird text to get from Jisung. It was in the middle of the group planning to go to the mall, it came out of nowhere.
I won't be around much anymore. If you try to contact me I wont respond.
No one had taken it seriously, it was random and just overall weird. The group had a brief discussion about it but just kind of brushed it off. He was probably just annoyed about something and would hang out with them soon.
The Jisung he thought he knew wasn't this shell of Jisung now. Jisung was always the one to reach out. He was always the one to plan cute activities for the group. He didn't even bother to look at them now. In fact he completely shut them out. Chan was growing more worried that the text he had sent was serious. Had they done something to him?
Especially combined with the incident at the diner. How quickly Jisung jumped at the idea of hanging out. He clearly wanted to and Jeno very clearly didn't. At the time he chalked it up to Jisung being forgetful or maybe them having an argument. He had never felt stupider.
It gave Chan chills just thinking about how quick he had forgotten about them. It was abnormal for sure. Jisung couldn't go a week without trying to hang out with at least Felix, let alone almost 2 months. Jisung and Jeno's relationship had started the trend of Jisung not hanging out. They had been together the entire time Jisung had been weird.
He wanted to shake it off, he really did. He just couldn't let it go. It didn't help that Chan was the dad of the group, he brought everyone together so in turn he had known each boy the longest, besides the obvious cousins of the group of course. Chan had known Jisung his entire life. Jisung had never gone through a phase like this. Not even in his angst filled middle school years.
Even in middle school, Jisung's biggest issue was how clingy he was to the group. Any argument he had ever gotten in was over how much he cared about them. He was always defending them or showing them love and adoration.
He had practically disappeared off the face of earth. Phone calls went straight to voicemail, he stopped answering the door, he would even hide from them at school. Enough was enough. This wasn't Jisung.
Chan decided he needed to talk to him, without Jeno. Maybe it was just a honeymoon phase and he was just insanely suddenly in love with him. Jisung had always fallen for strangers who showed him any attention. That's what Chan wanted to believe. He didn't know what he thought was happening but he certainly didn't like it.
