Since as long as she could remember, Alora always loved reading. She was that girl who stayed awake at night to imagine stories in her head, that girl who hid in the corner of the room with a book at social events, that girl who always had smart comebacks stolen from her favorite characters.

Since as long as she could remember, she had always lived in the town's orphanage. Getting the title of an orphan before she could even talk, the girl learned early to rely on herself and herself only. Of course, most therapist would say that state of mind isn't healthy, and she was well aware of that, but she didn't care. That's how she survived.

Since as long as she could remember, her life had always been the boring type. Living in an orphanage wasn't a thrilling experience and it was even worse when the only memories you had were from this place.

Maybe her silent prayers where answered that night. Maybe life had granted her a new beginning. A new life, a life she had always dreamed of. Maybe fate felt generous and saw the unlucky girl, sleeping peacefully. Who knows?

It may seem great at first but living a fairytale through paper and ink and living it in the flesh is considerably different. She'll soon find out everything isn't as sugar and sparkle as she thought. Because war ravages even the purest souls and drags even the best of us into a sea of unbridled madness. And the worse part is that we only have us humans to blame.
