"My love with dark eyes"

She smiled and jumped with glee as Y/N accepted the offer. That night she packed her purse and walked towards her office, fiddling with the keys again before unlocking the door. As she entered, a sweet scent filled the room. It was Y/N's scent, It smelt warm and mixed in with firewood and lavender. Nana smiled as she embraced the memories of today, it was a tolerable and welcoming day. Sighing, she untied her long locks of luscious black hair, now twirling on her back. Her eyes fluttered as strands flew right into her face, she pushed them back and her attention forwarded to the hook behind her door. Her bony, gentle hands reached in to grab her brown coat. Winter was kicking in, the weather outside was blurry and icy. After doing the buttons on her coat, Nana pulled her red scarf off from her chair, wrapping it loosely around her neck. Grabbing her purse, she exited the office and locked it. Everyone had already gone, it was her and only her. She liked it that way, it was so dim and quiet when nobody was here, only the sounds of birds chirping from a distance could be heard.

Nana exited the agency, looking like a beautiful angel walking through the gates of heaven. She took her time walking, admiring the gorgeous attire of the dark city. A sudden animal-like noise startled her, looking down she noticed a stay alley kitten. It was dark brown, like Y/N's hypnotising eyes. It also had patches and scars around its chin, "Poor thing" She muttered under her breath. The urge to pick up the cat was unimaginable, so she did. It purred in her muscular arms embracing its tiny little body. It was cute, she found many stray animals as cute. "Would you like something to eat?" She smiled, pulling something out from her purse while softly gazing into the kitten's pupils. She knelt down and placed a blueberry muffin in front of the little animal. It was the muffin she didn't eat during lunch. It sniffed the pastry curiously. Nana watched in awe as the kitten nibbled its first few bites. Seemingly, the animal enjoyed it. Nana's hand came in touch with its fur, it purred as she swayed through its ears. Once more, she smiled at the kitten. Waved it bye, pecked its paw and continued walking home. The distance wasn't far, it wasn't short either. It was an enjoyable walk that was quiet, only the sounds of animals could be heard. She shivered slightly as a gust of wind flew her way, her hair flew slightly to the other side. Then water splattered on her coat. All right, no time to enjoy. Time to head home, right now. She sighed, really, she assumed it was going to be a good day and night. Ah, well.

Finally home, the scent of warmth and lemon tea surrounded Nana. Shutting the door behind her, she unbuttoned her soaked coat. She shook it violently, shaking off raindrops that lingered on the coat. She shook her shoes off and threw her coat on the couch. Alone, all again. How she liked it. After all, she was a Ms. Not Mrs.

She shook her head, an attempt to get the remaining raindrops off her soaking hair. A towel was the solution, She grabbed one and patted her hair with it. She headed to the kitchen, in hopes that there would be enough caffeine to make coffee. No, there wasn't. Her remaining option was; Lemon tea.

Did she mind? Of course not, She loved Lemon tea. Before she whipped up anything, her phone buzzed. She pulled it out from her purse and read the name.

Y/N
000XX000XX000

It was Y/N's number. Her heart fluttered at the name, She instantly picked it up. Silence surrounded the two. "Nana? I was wondering if you were still at the office" He spoke, voice as charming and sweet as always. "Yes, I've just gotten back. Why?" She asked. "I was a bit worried you'd come a bit late. I'm aware that when you don't sleep well you don't wake up well either" He replied, worryingly, with care. Nana's heart skipped an entire beat, she loved how Y/N was always alert and caring. It's impossible not to fluster over that worried voice. "Y/n..That's very sweet of you, I'm truly flattered" She placed her left hand on her cheek, her face flushed red. He made her giggle with glee, she made him fluster and flutter. Ironic, isn't it? Yet, they both didn't realise. They couldn't confess, it was too risky. Y/N wouldn't want to put pressure on Nana, especially what she's been through. Nana wouldn't admit love to herself, even if on death row. Nana preferred dignity, Y/N preferred honesty and confession.
Oh, if only they both knew. It was confusing, really. Nana's heart pounded every time she laid her black eyes on Y/N, and she still never questioned why. Y/N never doubted Nana, not once. Even if she scolded him or got annoyed with him, he never left her side, Sometimes he'd call himself foolish as it seems. How can a beauty like her love someone like him. He was barely noticed throughout Japan, despite being a hero. Nana never put thought into love, platonic compassion kept her going. Love was easy for her, sure. Everyone loved her, she knew, she was aware. However, she didn't feel the same, not about everyone.

"Nana, do you love anyone?" Y/N once questioned, way before the hero mess began, Like..When they were in middle school. She didn't know what to say, Y/N stared at her eyes that seemed so confused and unsure. "Maybe" She whispered, Y/N looked at her curiously, waiting for her to continue. "Maybe, I will love someone!" She smiled, two of her fingers forcing a bigger grin on her face. The male beside her nodded. After all, who was he to change her preference on love? He was happy when she said that one word, 'will'. Will she love him?
Figures, Will she?

And they were back to laughing on the phone.

"Kitten?" Y/N cooed over the phone, "It was a stray, Though it was quite adorable" She responded. "You like cats, Shimura?" He asked, fond of this adoration. "I tend to love all animals" Nana answered with a light smile on her face. Remember this Y/N, she loves animals, not insects. Nana was in her bedroom right this moment, giggling and talking to the male on the other line. It was funny, Nana flustered around Y/N, Y/N flustered around Nana. Yet, One of them doesn't believe in love while the other genuinely wishes for them to turn around.
Courage mattered. Courage and devotion were the main pointers to getting what you wanted here, or in this case, what Y/N wanted.
Nana didn't know however, don't blame her. She enjoyed Y/N's company and support, they've been at it since middle school. Nana once recalled her walking to school in the blistering rain, nobody even looked at her. Her ponytail was soaking and her book bag had gotten heavier and heavier, her back arched a few times as the load was too much. Everything, her uniform and her shoes were wet too.
"You'll catch a cold, Nana" A soft, male voice said from beside her. Something above Nana shielded her from the rain, looking up she saw a transparent umbrella. Looking beside her, a dried Y/N was giving a closed-eyed smile right at her. They both laughed along with each other the way back to school.

Y/N was one of the few people who never left her side. He was there for everything, Just for her. It meant a lot, Nana still didn't seem to get the memo however. Y/N didn't mind, he put her before him every chance he got. This bond grew stronger over their years of knowing each other. To the point where they both accomplished their goals, they became heroes at a beloved agency. They worked together, like the close people they were. Nana was like the perfect rose, Y/N was her gardener. Nana made him happy and calm, Y/N was there for her because of that. They've only encountered one small fight with each other despite knowing one another for years. It was in high school, UA, teenage years you guessed it. Nana had fallen head over heels for some berserk, red-haired dude during second year. He was bad, Y/N knew that. Y/N also knew that if Nana grew more attached to that person, He'd lose her. Plus, that berserk red-haired dude was already walking around with a bad reputation, He also was held back for like 2 years. How could Nana like him in any manner? Y/N was pissed, that male screwed with him countless times. It was amazing how he still had this disgusting ego he carried around with every person he encountered. Nana would occasionally talk about that boy for hours with Y/N, who didn't have the genuine heart to tell her that her jerk of a boyfriend was a goddamn menace to humanity. "Maybe, I will love someone!" Y/N personally thought that 'someone' would be him, clearly he was wrong. Things grew from there, Nana barely talked to Y/N for weeks. It mentally and physically deranged him, how that jerk was so damn lucky to be with Nana. Y/N was positive that he was a better person, he'd be a better lover. It eventually got to the point where Y/N and that boyfriend would be fighting, physically. Nana occasionally attempted to talk to her boyfriend, and Y/N about this. They both turned on her. Her boyfriend told her that her friends were too attached and obsessed with her, while Y/N. Well, Y/N didn't really say anything. He hugged her one day and didn't speak to her at all. Days went on, they were questioned about why they were avoiding each other. It got confusing for their other friends.
It got concerning.

Enough about UA arguments, let's just say that they made up, one day. They both left that scene behind them, as in the past. Y/N kept those moments to his heart though, things he could mentally never let go of. As for Nana, She pretended that never happened. If one of her old friends brought it up, she'd dodge the question and switch it to another topic.

They couldn't lie to themselves however, Nana found it hard to love. Y/N respected that, despite his secret. Even if Nana knew, would that change what she really thought about love?

What an odd dynamic, sweet, but odd.
