CHAPTER SIX; i want to hold him like that.
Grace watches onwards from the library, leaning against the doorway as Lockwood walks over to Lucy. She sat on one of the dining table chairs in the middle of the living room, prepared to connect with Annabel.
'If she takes any liberties, we're right here, okay?' Anthony places the ring gently into Lucy's hand.
'Okay,' Lucy responds softly.
'Be careful,' he smiles reassuringly. Taking a couple steps back, Anthony stands just in front of the library doorway, crossing his arms. Close enough to Grace that she can reach a hand out to latch onto the back of his jacket for comfort.
'You okay?' Lockwood whispers, glancing over his shoulder. Grace nods silently, stepping slightly closer, his body radiating a homely warmth. 'I'll be right here.'
'It's okay, Annabel,' Lucy speaks softly. 'It's safe.'
The others watch onwards as Lucy listens. The noises and memories not meeting their own ears. Grace tightens her grip on Lockwood's jacket as the tingling in her fingertips gets stronger, the dull ache in her chest becoming far more noticeable.
'She's here,' Grace mutters into Anthony's ear. He gazes down at her before turning back to Lucy as she speaks.
'There's a song playing in the room,' Lucy smiles. 'She loves it. It's their song.'
'Who's they? Annabel and—'
'Shh,' Anthony hushes George.
'She's so happy, she loves him.'
'Can you feel it?' Lockwood whispers to Grace.
'Sort of. The air is light? But I can feel resentment, bitterness.' She lets go of his jacket, moving to stand in front of him. Lockwood reaches out to grab her, but decides against it. The source is tempting her, Annabel is tempting her. Closing her eyes, Grace tunes in.
'She's dancing to the song, he's watching her,' Lucy narrates.
'She likes it,' Grace adds. She opens her eyes as she senses a presence moving closer to her. Lucy had stood from the chair, walking to stand directly in front of the other female agent.
'He wants her, but it's just...'
'What is it?' Lockwood softly questions, moving to stand beside Grace protectively.
'There's anger, he's angry,' Grace responds, snapping away from the previous temptation.
'Jealous,' Lucy's eyes were open now as she stared directly at Grace. 'She's afraid, again.'
