Her stomach churned and her knees felt weak. Her heart raced with every footstep, and she could feel the sweat starting to form on her forehead. She tried to brush it off as just her imagination, but as she turned a corner and saw a shadowy figure standing ahead, her worst fears were confirmed.

Her breath hitched in her throat, and she tried to turn back, but it was too late.

The figure was already moving towards her, and she could hear the sound of heavy footsteps pounding the pavement. She tried to run, but her legs felt like lead, and she stumbled and fell to the ground.

As she struggled to get back up, the figure loomed over her, and she could feel its hot breath on her neck. She could smell the sour stench of fear and sweat on the person's skin. She tried to scream, but her voice was trapped in her throat.

Suddenly, a hand reached down and grabbed her shoulder.

Flashback ends

Aurelia slowly opens her eyes, her heart is still pounding in her chest she feels as though she has just escaped from a terrible nightmare. Her breath is shallow and rapid, and she's covered in a cold sweat.

She's in her bed, in the safety of her own room, but she feels as though she has just been through a terrifying experience.

She takes a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself down and shake off the remnants of the nightmare. She reminds herself that it wasn't real, that it was just her imagination running wild. Sitting up in bed, feeling the coolness of the sheets against her skin, and glances around the room.

The shadows in the corners of the room seem darker than usual, and for a moment she's not entirely sure if she's still dreaming. She pinches herself, just to be sure, and the sharp pain reassures her that she is awake.
