Chapter #5

Ruhana and Vineet spend some love-filled moments together. Vineet’s gesture has made her happy and she is really glad about the same. She’s hugging him, resting her head on his chest. His heartbeat is music to her ears. She smiles to herself as he’s moving his fingers in her hair and hugging her with his other hand. He tends to notice her and poses his question.

“What are you thinking about?” He asks.

“You!” She says, glancing at him and pecking his lips.

“Why? What did I do? I mean, I hope you don’t have any complaints.” He asks her, gazing at her innocently.

“No! Not at the moment, Vineet. But…” She says and pauses while he looks at her.

“Tell me what you’re planning?” She asks him cutely.

“No!” He denies telling her and turns his face away.

She sits up parting the hug and pulls his face towards herself. His expressions are firm, while she looks at him innocently. He denies telling her anything and she makes a foul face.

“Huh! Why not? Please Vineet…” She says, holding his hands.

“No! You need to wait, my love!” He says pecking her forehead.

“This is cheating. You’re not telling me anything. I know you’re up to something. But if I didn’t like it, you need to face my wrath.” She warns him while he laughs at her meek threatening.

“You will love it. I know about your likes and dislikes.” He says and she glares at him.

“Come on! Get some sleep! You only say that Princesses need their beauty sleep! So, you deserve the same, after all, you’re the Queen.” He says, very cutely and dramatically, that her frown changes into a smile.

She tends to speak something but he shushes her and makes her lie on the bed. He says that she’ll know everything by the next day. Ruhana is amused, but she doesn’t want to spoil his surprise.

It may be something random but it will be special. She’s happy with the least that he gets her, be it a chocolate bar or a balloon. It all makes her happy. She smiles to herself assuming the surprise she’ll be getting this year. After all, her better half is planning it all.

She’s looking at him as he lies on the bed and she turns to his side, keeping her hand around his waist. Life’s good, certainly.

Ruhana wakes up the next morning only to find Vineet missing from the bed. She opens her eyes and sits up. Slowly, her vision clears, and she adjusts to the light entering the room from the window. She checks the alarm clock, It’s just 7 AM. He stays asleep until late but today he’s up.

She calls his name but he doesn’t respond. She gets down from the bed and begins to look for him but at the same time, he enters the room with a tray in his hands. Ruhana is amused but she sits back on the bed on his command. He kisses her lips greeting her for the morning and she reciprocates the same.

“Wow! Bed tea! Why? What’s special today?” She chuckles at him.

“You are special!” He winks at her and she blushes, downing her gaze.

He glances at her and shifts closer and kisses her forehead. This is a gesture that both of them love. Obviously, love is not just about making love with your partner.  These gestures like hugs, forehead kisses or just sitting and holding hands, hit deeper than the physical lovemaking. Ain’t it?

“Ruhana, why do you always behave like we are newly married?” He asks her and she looks at him.

“You make me feel so, Vineet. You know what, a relationship should always be as fresh as a bud. Your attention, your teasing, and when you just hold me like this, all of it is special. I know, we will get old, but love won’t. “ She answers, looking into his eyes.

“Ah! It’s 3 years so far, so you’ll be blushing like this 30 years later too?” He asks teasingly.

“Depends upon you, Mr Husband.” She winks at him and he looks at her confusingly.

“Why? What did I do?” He asks.

“You’ll be the one doing it, Vineet. I don’t know about you or about how others feel for their partners, but, you’re my husband, you’re my friend, my everything. Not just today, but years later too, you’ll always have this effect on me. It’s nothing but your love.” She says sweetly such that he’s touched.

He pulls her in his arms, hugging her closely. She’s surprised but she lets the love flow.

Starting your day with a love-filled morning is beautiful. Vineet asks Ruhana to take a shower and get ready. He tells her that they need to go to the office as they have a meeting. When she asks him to get ready, he tells her that he needs to make a call so by the time, he will finish the call, she can get ready and make some breakfast. Ruhana agrees and rushes into the washroom.

Vineet smiles to himself. He watches her go and only a few thoughts bubble in his mind and heart.

“Ruhana, this Valentine’s Day, you will get a big surprise. And I am sure, you will love it. I know, I am going on the right way. Just a little more waiting.”

He says to himself and then pulls out a bag from Ruhana’s almirah. He packs some of her dresses and some regular cosmetics that she uses without her permit. He never does this, but today he has to do it. While he’s working he hears her calling. He stays still for a moment until she says that she forgot her towel on the bed. He sighs and passes her the towel in the washroom.

Within 10 minutes, he’s done packing stuff for both of them. He asks the driver to keep the bag in the car. He doesn’t want Ruhana to know about it.

Meanwhile, Ruhana comes out dressed in jeans and a georgette top, her comfort clothes. She makes her hair and finds him staring at her. She gazes at him through the mirror, while he nods negatively. She shakes her head at his act and pushes him into the washroom.  While she gets busy in making breakfast for herself and her beloved husband.

An hour later, they’re in the office and Vineet is in a meeting. Ruhana is checking some files and updating something on the computer. She’s finished her work and she’s sitting in Vineet’s chair spinning around when Vineet enters the cabin. He tells her that they’ve got the deal. She jumps from her seat to hug him and congratulate him for his hard work.

They talk for a while and soonish, Vineet’s action leaves Ruhana amused and bewildered.
