What a lovely town it used to be. Filled with laughter and empathy for all citizens in the city, as each knew that nothing could ever go wrong in the town as they are all safely protected. Whether that may have been through the Royal family or the Great Odel. Who may have been this Great Odel, you ask? Well, Odel was known as a powerful demon fox that had protected and guarded the city for years. Back in the old centuries, many people especially people taking care of shrines (Mikos and Kannushis) were able to not only see Odel but even communicate with him. However, as years went on smaller amounts of people were able to see Odel and no one has ever figured out why. Many bullied it was due to the fact that there were fewer crimes as years went on, and Odel did not need to be with the town in person all the time. Meanwhile, others believed that it was due to Odel abandoning them. However, only the true and faithful ones knew that was false as Odel was sure to always be watching over them...

"And it is our duty to keep remembering that as our family has always guarded this shrine ever since Odel created it and the town... We all know it's not like how it was before, but deep within this modern town, it is still with us, like Odel" finished a female Miko with silver hair as she soon turned off the candle and looked at her two daughters who were seen staring at their Mother in great awe. "Mommy, when Emi and I get older will we be taking charge of the shrine, like you?" asked a little girl with silver hair just like her Mother's, as the older female smiled and nodded before getting up and tucking them both to bed. "Yes, you both still have much training to do, but once you have completed it and earned the titles to be the next Mikos of this shrine, then you two will be taking over, just as I did" she explained and soon stopped as she noticed her youngest daughter staring at a photo beside their bed. The photo contained their family all together. "Emi, is there something bothering you?" she asked the little girl who instead had dark purple hair compared to her sister and Mother.
The little girl didn't look back as she just stared at the photo. "Papa, he isn't coming back isn't he?" she suddenly replied before finally looking at her Mom. "He promised to show up on our birthday this week and he still hasn't sent something to let us know he is coming home... Why does he have to travel so far anyways?" she continued with disappointment in her voice. Both her sister and her Mother went silent from her comments, and soon after a while, it broke as her Mother stood up and sighed. "Your Father travels far due to not having such reliable jobs here, so the further he goes, the better it is... But, your Father loves you both so much he hasn't missed a birthday right? He's just... being Dad" Their Mother soon smiled trying to comfort the two children, who both looked at each other before nodding. "He will come back! Right Emi?~" said the eldest, and soon Emi smiled back and put her thumb up. "Yeah, Kana! and we will surprise him like always!~" Emi soon responded back before both of them soon yawned and fell back on their pillows as their eyes got heavy.
"Oh you two... rest well now, I'll see you in the morning" Their Mother soon said before seeing them both pass out. She smiled and soon closed the door letting the two sleep. Emi slowly opened her eyes once again seeing her Mother leave, to which she soon got up and walked to their window as she looked at the stars. "One day, when I become the next Miko, I find a way to talk to The Great Odel!~" she whispered softly before holding her hands together as if she was wishing for something. Once she was done, she let go and immediately went back to her bed with a smile, before closing her eyes and falling back asleep.
