Chapter 4 - The core

Raph was still chasing after the Van that had taken splinter and draxum. The van was starting to slow down as it neared a massive building. The building had a large glow on the top floor. The van pulled into the garage, And Raph quickly slid in. The large turtle hid in the corner of the garage as they unloaded splinter and Draxum. The sheep was still unconscious and the rat was remaining still.

Raph waited till darkness had enclosed the building, other then fires the building was dark. Raph fiddled with his hands before getting up and slowly making his way through the quiet hallways. She heard murmurs of humans and pressed herself to a wall, and stayed silent. The humans had guns in their hands and smaller guns slung onto their hips. He waited till they were gone and she continued down the hallway. Raph found himself in a hallway with cells, Metal doors with a small section of steel bars. She stared through all the steel bars until He saw the purple colour of Draxum. It was the furthest cell from the entrance of the champer till he spotted the familiar face of Draxum.

The sheep man was awake, And angry. His hands were cuffed to the wall and the sheep was shouting angrily. Raph waited till the guards were gone, Which didn't take long. She ran over to the cell. "Draxum!" Raph whispered. "Huh? Wait-Raphael?" The sheep looked around frantically. "Relax im right here." She revealed herself and smiled. "Thank god! Please tell me you have a plan-" The sheep grunted. "Of course I do," she revealed a long skinny key. "Nabbed this off a guard earlier." She unlocked the cell door, Then the cuffs. The sheep rubbed his wrists. "Thanks Raph, Now where is splinter? We need to get splinter!" Raph waved her hands. "No! We need to get you out first. Splinters in the most heavily secured area thing-!" The sheep only glared. "I don't care! We need to get splinter." The sheep shoved passes the turtle, But Raph grabbed his arm. "No. We find a way out, Go to the sewers and make a plan. Your gonna get killed if we don't make a plan."

The sheep looked angry, Draxum Raised his hand, About to smack Raph but stopped. "...Fine." The turtle finally exhaled, Her fists unclenched and seemed genuinely less stressed. "Ok, We need to move." Without another argument the two carefully made their way through, Hiding in shadows. As the pair turned to corner they heard deep voices up ahead, They hid behind a pillar and watched carefully. The guards walked along the hallway with rifles held in their arms. The guards were about the pass before one of them stopped and looked around, Analyzing the area for movement. The deep voice spoke. "Come on out Mutants! I know you there, Why hide and accept your fate huh?" Draxum answered the guard. The sheep ran at the guard, With a quick reflex and crashed his fist into the guards jaw. The other guard was about to alert the other guards. Raph quickly moved and smacked the rifle away, And put the guard in a chokehold till the human stopped squirming. She set the guard down and checked for a pulse. It was there. The guard wasn't dead but they weren't conscious either. "Let's go. Quickly! I can see the entrance." The pair ran towards the garage they had entered in and very quickly slid out and ran into the smoke and embers.

Draxum and Raph had been running until the building was nothing but a silhouette. Draxum stopped and placed his hands on his knees and breathed heavily. Raph caught her breath as well. "We need to head towards big mamas hotel, There's an alleyway near there. The sewage entrance is covered with a tarp." The sheep nodded. "It's northwest from here, We rest then leave early as possible." Raph waved her hands again. "No, We need to find cover first. If we don't, We won't live to see tomorrow." The sheep wanted to object but couldn't. "Fine!" The pair got to their feet and walked through the smoke until they found ruins of a building. "Here, This is fine. As long as we stay under this ledge thing we'll be fine." The sheep nodded. "You have first watch, Turtle." Draxum lay himself down and dozed off.

Raph nudged Draxums shoulder. "C'mon, You've rested long enough." Draxum grumbled but didn't object. The pair left the camp and move through ruins of buildings, Staying out of the streets. "Why are they guarding the sewers anyway?" Draxum said with a tilting head. Raph fumbled a rock in her palms. "Because they don't want Yōkai escaping." Raph gripped the rock in her palm, This was her special rock. It was her comfort object. Each turtle had comfort items. Raph had a rock, Leo had a skateboard wheel, Donnie had a coin from Germany and mikey had a crayon. Draxum had one too, It was a bow-tie splinter had smuggled from a human child a while back. Draxum had the bow-tie either in his hair or in his hand. "Raph? Raph! Look out!" The turtle snapped out of her mind and turned back to reality. A boulder was falling. It hit other boulders and made those fell. Draxum was headed straight for a massive one.

"DRAXUM!" The turtle ran towards the sheep and shoved draxum out of the way, She screeched as the large boulder fell onto her.

Draxum was panicking. Debris had fallen and Raph had shoved him out of the way. He searched the pile of boulders. "Ow!" The sheep exclaimed as his hand touched a spike of raphs shell. "Raph!" Draxum shoved boulders until the turtle was revealed. Her arm was shattered and her shell was cracked slightly. The sheep helped the turtle to her feet and dragged her to a nearby cavern of debris. "Raph, Raph! Wake up..! Raph!!" The turtle groaned and opened her eyes slowly. "C'mon, We're almost at the ruins of big mamas hotel." The sheep propped the turtle up and helped the wounded turtle walk. As the two walked carefully they heard a soft groan Coke from the rubble. "Hello? Hello?? Help! Please help me! My legs are caught under rocks!" Draxum knew the voice too. "Big mama?"

"Yes! Yes it's me draxy waxy, Now help me!" The spider hissed. "Your in your natural form aren't you?" "Yes I am! My leggity legs are stuck, All of them. I just need you too lift some of it." "Or you could shrink." "Oh...right." The spider shrunk into her smaller form and crawled from the wreckage. "Where are you two going? My hotel is destroyed. There's no safe place for Yōkai." Big mama said quietly. "We-" Raph interrupted the sheep. "We're going to the sewers. You coming or not?" The pair started towards the alleyway, And big mama caught up to them. "Aren't all the sewer enterances guarded?" Big mama asked. "Raph said this one is unguarded. But we'll see." The sheep shrugged. "It is unguarded." Draxum turned to look at Raph. "How do you know?" "Cause I'm looking at it." The turtle pointed her long tail towards the tarp. Big mama and Draxum exchanged a look but lifted to tarp to find an open sewer entrance. Raph saw blood and a piece of Donnie battle shell, It was the purple crest that guarded the internal wiring.

The three jumped down the manhole and landed on the sewage floor. "Know where do we go? Hmmmm?" Big mama said, Crossing her arms. "Follow us." Draxum and Raph both said. They walked for a while until the entrance to their home was revealed. Before Raph or the other two could say a word, The voice of mikey was heard. "Raph! Draxum! Are you two ok? What happened?! Where's splin-" the box turtles mouth was covered by Leo's hand. "Mikey, let them come in." Leo stared at big mama for a brief moment. "Her too. Someone get Raph a towl! We can use it as a sling for her arm." Leo led the three into their home. Raph looked around to see hypno, Warren, Repo mantis and Yōkai children in the area. Donnie was laying on a beanbag with their leg propped up with a wooden box. Their leg was wrapped in bandages and in a splint. Raph collapsed onto the ground, Finally feeling safe. He felt arms wrap around her and opened her eyes to her siblings hugging her, Even Donnie.
