I needed to go back to being what I created; I can't be myself anymore..well, not in this world!
Weak people like the old me don't have a chance of surviving in this cruel world. I looked back to Nigari again, seeing him look so concerned.
"Hey, Y/N?, if you remember me..please know I'm sorry.. I know I should have been there for you, but—" I cut him off when I started laughing, and he looked at me confusedly, wondering what the heck was going on.
"Y/N, I know you aren't ok, but look, if you come with me to the beach, you will get better and you will be with-" Yet again, he was interrupted when he saw the other members of the military walk by. He quickly changed his attitude and slapped me across the face. He laughed and stuck his disgusting tongue out with the most repugnant smile I have ever seen.
He hadn't changed; he was still pretending to be someone superior so that he would look like a threat to others, not like I could say anything tough. I was just like that. I have been hiding myself behind a hard shell all this time, not wanting to commit the same mistakes I had done before, and this just slapping me in the face as if it were nothing was the end of it. I had to snap and beat him up for how he left... He knew what was going to happen to me and still ran away and left me there in the hands of those disgusting bastards. He never cared, and when I saw him for the last time before coming here, he blamed it all on me. He screamed at me for the way I dressed instead of apologizing for chickening out. We promised to be weirdos together till the end, but
"30 min left"
"There's no time to vent, Y/N," I told myself, and I tried to remember where I saw the last treasure location. Just when the image started to become clear, I heard Takashi scream, "Y/N!, I found it." I smiled for a few seconds, proud of Takashi, but immediately hid my smile.
I was suspicious about it though—I mean, how did Takashi find a treasure so quickly during the time that I spent talking to Nigari? I didn't understand how, when I told the team I found the treasures, he didn't listen to me at all. Was Takashi hiding something?
"Y/N, stop with the trust issues; it's still not the right moment for it," I yet again told myself.
I waited for something to happen, but nothing did. We were there, standing in the middle of the mall, but no further instructions were heard. What is going on now?
The light turned off, revealing a bunch of neon arrows pointing towards our exit.
"One team has found six treasures."
"New rule added; you can now steal treasures from others."
And there was yet another thought: I asked myself, "Why is this game categorized with such a low ranking? Was it that Mira knew that someone was finally going to make us move to the next level? Or why the heck is this game so complex?
Steps got closer and closer, and through the darkness, the last people left came running against us. I held Takashi by the hand and ran as fast as I could. Then it hit me. The treasures contained a variety of things, so I grabbed the small gun and started shooting some people. Takashi looked stunned, and for a second he stopped but continued running. Nigari was nowhere to be seen, but who cared if I could make it out of here alive?
I continued shooting people as we slowly ran up the stairs to the top of the mall. We ran and ran as fast as we could until we reached the emergency exit. We tried to unlock the door but couldn't; the door had a lock that was stuck and wouldn't let us type in a code. I looked around desperately; nothing
I grabbed all the tools we had and looked at the single arrow. I inspected it, trying to find anything. I touched it through the point, but nothing. Takashi saw me struggling and reached to hold it, but when he did, the arrow stuck to his bracelet, letting us know that it was magnetic. We tried pulling it away from Takashi's bracelet, but it wouldn't come off.
"Y'all need help." Nigari appeared out of nowhere. He helped us pull until the arrow came off, but due to the amount of force we put into it, it flew away, hitting the roof and revealing a hidden button. The lock started beeping, letting us know that it was time to figure out what to do. The steps of people getting closer were begging to be heard loudly around the area.
"Ok, no one panicked; I will figure it out," I said, trying to calm my non-panicked crewmates.
"Done!" Takashi screamed, opening the door.
The suspense feeling came back; the more and more time I spent with Takashi, the more suspicious he became.
We walked down the stairs, and I quickly snatched the card, juggling it back to my car.
"Wait! Y/N!!" Takashi ran behind me, trying to catch up. We both got in our vehicles.
Before starting to pull out of the parking lot, I saw Nigari standing there, waiting for the beach vehicle to arrive; no cars were visible, and his teammates weren't coming out either.
I felt bad, but I had to remain myself to stop being weak and caring for others.
I started driving towards the exit until I saw a car that seemed to go in slow motion as I saw white bleached hair fly with the wind—there it was that one annoying guy from that past game. I swear I saw him looking at me. We looked into each other's eyes, but instead of holding it and acting all in love like a schoolgirl, I broke the eye contact and went back to soothing the butterflies around me.
The time went back to normal, and the slow motion effect faded away. I sped up by turning on the radio while listening to my favorite song.
I parked in my private basement parking lot, got out of my car, and went up the elevator to the top floor.
I walked in my room and immediately went to bed. I really wasn't expecting to get into any games; all I wanted to do was shop at the mall, but I guess that's not possible in this strange world.
"Hey, what do you want me to do with the furniture and shopping bags?" Takashi asked, leaning into my door frame.
"We will fix it tomorrow," I said.
"Alright," Takashi said while grabbing some of my pillows and lying on his part of the floor.
"No funny PJs today?"
"Not in the mood, Y/N."
I see, he did great today—well, oddly great. He deserved a better resting bed, but remembering what he said yesterday, this is the only room he will feel comfortable sleeping in.
"Fine," I said with an annoying tone. I can't believe I'm letting him do this.
He looked at me confusedly, wondering what I was talking about. "You can sleep with me just for today; tomorrow we will make your own room," I said. I mean only if you want to stay, I guess.
He stood up and seated himself beside me; he made himself comfortable, and I swear I saw him wanting to cuddle me but he stopped; I won't lie, he probably remembers I will kick him out of my bed if he did so.
I slowly closed my eyes and, for the first time, felt relaxed. I don't know what it is about Takashi, but he makes me feel comfortable and
I spoke too soon, I felt arms around me as I tried to defend myself. It was dark and probably early morning. I tried to fight back but felt weak. I was finally able to open my eyes completely and saw Takashi smiling at me with a sadistic smile. I saw he had put anesthesia on me, and that's why I was feeling weak. I was trying really hard not to give up and keep awake, but I felt my eyes close slowly.
"Oh poor Y/N, You really thought you could make a friend?" That was the last thing I heard.
Everything was dark, and I could only hear the sound of the roads. I was getting kidnapped by the first person I have ever trusted; how ironic.
