"No Yelena! I cannot calm down." I tell my friend panicking. "It's been 9 days already and I've heard nothing from Miss Romanoff," I say disappointment all over my face and voice tone.

"Maybe she forgot to press send," Yelena tries to comfort me from the other side of the phone.

"Try that again,"

"You're right, that's stupid. Hmm, maybe she got busy?" My blond friend suggests.

"That could be possible," I say in thought. "Although, she'd easily get someone to send an email for her." I groan and fall down on my bed.

"Want me to come over and distract you?" she asks, probably pitying the shit out of me.

"A latte would be nice," I say with puppy eyes, knowing she knows I have my current expression.

"Sure thing," she chuckles on the other side of the phone. "I'll be there soon,"

"See you soon," I say before ending the call and simply staring at the ceiling.

"Maybe I missed something," I say to myself and sit up on the bed. I open my email but there's nothing new so I refresh. Still nothing. I keep refreshing the page over and over again, not realizing how long it's been.

RING

"Comming!" I yell, running to the door after hearing the door bell.

I open the door to see my bestest friend with our lattes. "Hey," she greets.

"Hello Belova," I say, inviting her inside.

"One hot vanilla latte for my basic friend," she says as she hands me my coffee.

I just scoff at her and take a sip. "Mhm, I love you."

"Love you too Vetrov," Yelena says laughing as she sits down on my couch.

"I was talking to the latte," I say, matching her laugh.

"I know," she says with a wide smile.

She starts talking about some crazy customers she has had to deal with at the restaurant she works at this week. It's always a good way to distract someone because, for some reason, the restaurant seems to attract customers who have lost their minds.

"He did what?" I ask laughing at my friend's words.

"Yup, he literally came into the restaurant and ate his dinner in silent with a picture of himself." she laughs, barely even believing her own words.

"Now that's a new level of narcissism right there," I say, almost crying from laughter.

"You can say that again,"

BUZZ

We both become silent. Anxiousness rising in the room.

"You gonna check it or not?" Yelena asks, pointing at my phone.

"I'm too nervous," I say, staring at my phone screen that says I have received a new email.

Yelena takes my phone from my hand and opens the email. A smirk appears on her face and she starts reading aloud.

Y/N Vetrov.

I am delighted to inform you I have chosen you as my new assistant at Romanoff & Maximoff law. Come to my office tomorrow at 8:00 am so we can discuss the details.

-NR

I take my phone and read it again myself. I jump up from the couch and start jumping excitedly. "She picked me!" I yell happily, making my friend start jumping up and down as well.
