1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4" Jaqueline thinks as she is running. "Focus on breathing. 1,2,3,4" Just like the coach told her.
'Your problem is your breathing. If you want to beat your score, you have to control your breathing. You won't do any better if you don't.' The coaches voice rings inside her head.
"1,2,3,4." She thinks as the music plays through her head. "Finally! A song i actually like." Jaqueline is so focused on her running she doesn't even realize the man she's about to run into until it's too late.
"Oof" she hears a voice say as books suddenly drop on her feet. It hurts but that doesn't matter considering she just ran straight into a guy, who could be in much more pain than she is. Especially since she was probably going as fast as she could.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry! I wasn't paying attention, ugh, I was just listening to music. I didn't even see you. I apologize." She said bending down to help pick up the books she knocked over. As she looked up at the guy she ran into, her breath caught in her throat. Jacob Walker from the Augusta Summer Camp.
From like, five years ago! Not that she was counting or anything. Seeing no recognition in his eyes she decided to pretend that she never met him.
"But what if it's not him?" She thought "Ya, it's probably not him, I mean, he moved right? I think he moved. Ya, there is no possible way that could be Jacob. Besides even if it was, he would remember me, right? I mean, I haven't changed that much. I mean my hair is a bit darker, and longer, and I guess I dress a bit different now than i did then... but... no, never mind. He wouldn't recognize me. And it's said that there are seven people that look the same over the world, maybe that kid was just someone like him. Ya, that was definitely not Jacob Walker."
Doubting herself, she got up, apologized once more, and jogged off. Trying to get him out of her head, she turned her music back up and started humming along to Crazy in Love. Beyoncé is good at a lot of things, but unfortunately, getting a Jacob Walker look alike out if her head, isn't necessarily one of her specialties. So, instead of going to the track course like she planned, she'll go run through town with a friend, Ariel maybe, and that should
get imposter Jacob out of her mind for a while. Besides, she won't have to really deal with him unless he is in any of her classes that she somehow hasn't noticed him in, or hasn't had class yet. So, she won't think about him. It's very doubtful he has thought even a single thought about her, so why should she waste her time thinking about him? She won't. Not even a thought. She'll listen to her music and focus on her running. Just like coach said. 1,2,3,4. So then, it's off to town.
