Before Jacob got to the track course, he had to drop off his stuff at his house, so it wasn't a complete lie about going home. He doesn't live far from the Middle School where the track meet usually takes place, so he didn't really have to worry about running into anyone he knew that was with him at town. On the way their, Jacob was trying to think of all the possible places he could've known her from. Camp; Preschool; maybe they were neighbors; maybe their parents were friends. Camp, he knew a lot of people from camp, it's completely possible. Preschool, he stayed in touch with everyone from preschool, thanks to the party planning committee they had every year. The one where everyone had to participate and bring something, so his mom easily goy everyone's number and they are all constantly having that 'mom get together' and going 'couponing' together. So no, not preschool. Neighbors, well, he has only moved three times in his life, so, it's possible, again. Parents friends, no. Jacob doesn't know why, but he just get a feeling that if it was a parents friends kid, he would've been told that she would be going to my school. So, either someone from camp or one of his old neighbors. As Jacob makes his way to the track field, he starts thinking.
"Oh no, what if she doesn't even do track? What if she was just running with a bunch of her friends?" He says aloud to himself. Well, if she isn't there, at least he's getting exercise. When he can finally see a glimpse of the track court, and he sees people there. Let's just hope its the people he's looking for. Okay good, people.
People running, even better. He can see one girl with brown hair, but no, that's not her. Her hair was a darker brown, and even if he did only see her once, the memory of her won't get out if her mind. Maybe she was in a different group, but he does see the leader from earlier. As he
hops the fence (well, attempts to) of the course, his foot smacks into the bar next to it, causing him to trip onto his face. He sees some of the girls snicker, and as he makes eye contact they smile sheepishly and wave at him, but he doesn't have time for that. He has a brown haired, track runner to find. Jacob jogs up to the race track and up to the guy in front of everyone, signaling him to stop and talk. The man holds his hand up, asking him to hold on for a second. The guy starts to jog back around the course once more and Jacob tried to recall everything about the entrancing girl that he was hopefully lucky to crash into. She has long brown hair and mesmerizing brown eyes. She was, fairly tall, and had dimples. She was wearing purple, blue and black leggings with a matching sports bra, and had a sports jacket partially zipped up on her, but he can't necessarily remember everything else. Jacob is lost in thought when the track leaders jogs over to him, letting everyone else take a break.
"Sup, you wanted to talk?" The leader asked breathless.
"Wha- Oh, oh ya. Um, I've been looking for a girl-,"
"Most guys that come over here are," The leader interrupts looking a bit annoyed.
"Um, ya, okay. But she was running with you guys earlier and she bumped into me and-"
"Oh, you mean Jac," the leader realized.
"Huh? No, I mean, like this girl ran into me like, 20 minutes ago, at most," Jacob said confused.
"Ya, Jac," The runner continued,"She left the group like 10 minutes ago. She went to run in town, got tired of the course we take, must've wanted to improvise, I take it. Why?"
"Um, I uh," Jacob stuttered. 'Crap Jacob, think!' He mentally scolded himself," Uh, when she bumped into me she uh, kinda dropped," 'Damn it' he thought as he put his hand in his right pocket and found nothing. 'Quick,' he thought, 'other pocket.' "-this!" He said, thank god, that could've been a bit embarrassing if he didn't have an excuse.
"She dropped a lollipop? Believe me, she'll be okay without it, she doesn't even like cherry lollipops," The lead runner said, smirking slightly.
"What- No! I, uh," He quickly put his hand back in his pocket searching for something else. Jacob feeling a bit jealous of the fact that this random guy knows her favorite lollipop flavors, what else could be know. But that doesn't matter right now. Right now he needs a good excuse to find this girl. His flash-drive! Thank the Lord. "She dropped this," Jacob said confidently holding up his flash-drive for the smug runner to see. The runners smirk died down a bit, but then came back up, fully on this time.
"Alright, well, tell her I said hi, she's probably near the pizza shop near the library by now," the leader went back to his jogging after that, and if he had seen a little label with the name of Jacob Walker on the flash-drive, well, he didn't want to embarrass the poor guy further than he already did.
So with that, Jacob went to find this Jacqueline, to 'give her back her flash-drive' for all the runners knew, and possibly ask her our for pizza.
