I wake up in the morning, and feel hugely unrested, even though I can't remember waking up in the night. As expected, Vessel is long gone, so I decide to sit up, and get a shower.

I guess it's a self care kinda day. I dry off, do some skincare, and get dressed. I towel dry my hair, and turn as I hear the door to the bedroom open. I smile at Vessel, as he walks in, in his full get-up.

I run my fingers through my wet hair, and put my arms around the back of his neck, and passionately kiss him.
He's a little shocked, but kisses me back slightly, and pulls away after a second or two.

He stares at me for a moment, and takes off his mask, and frowns at me.
"I told you to sleep it off." He hisses at me.

"I tried. It didn't happen."

He frustratedly runs his fingers through his hair.
"Ugh. Have you eaten?"

"Not yet."

"Well. Come and eat with me, then."

I nod, and follow him to the dining room. He pulls my chair out for me, and sits down opposite me.
"I have a couple of things I wanted to discuss with you." He says, fairly quietly, which gives me the idea it's not gonna be good.

"Go on."

"Don't look so scared. I've set a provisional date for our wedding, three weeks today."

I choke on my drink, and he smiles faintly.

"That's fine. Three weeks." I say, weakly, a little shocked at how soon it is.

"And I've invited over your family for lunch today."

I raise my eyebrow at him.
"Really? Everyone?"

"Everyone."

"Any... Particular reason?"

"Of course. I'm giving Eric, and your father, a last chance to be invited to the wedding."

I laugh.
"You must be joking? Of course they're invited."

"A wedding is solemn and sacred. I don't trust either of them to behave, or mot try and ruin it."

"Don't be so stupid. That's completely-"

"Gaia. Eric shattered a glass on my face. He got a slap on the wrist, because you wouldn't let me teach him a lesson."

I roll my eyes.
"Fine. Fine, whatever."

He watches me carefully.
"It's not fine. Obviously. I'm sorry you have an issue. I want to keep you happy, but I have family there too. I want them to support marrying into your family."

I tilt my head.
"You have family?"

"I'm a human chosen as a Vessel. I didn't fucking spawn, Gaia. Yes, I have family."

I groan, slightly.
"Fine. I need a drink."

"It's 9am."

"I asked for a drink. Not the time."

I expect a lecture, or an angry response, but instead, he laughs, and gets me a small glass of wine.

"You can always go and get it yourself. You figured out where it's kept within an hour of living here."

"I can. But I prefer if you do it."

He sighs, and sits back down.
"You look good without that mask."

"Don't I look good with it?" He asks me, and raises his eyebrow.

"You do. It's just nice to see you more comfortable without it."
