11. Burn!

The flashing lights were blinding... Still, when you open your eyes, all colors have disappeared again. Nothing but black and white to be seen. What used to be a pumping sound in the back of your head has now become complete silence. The smell of cold surrounds you and makes its way deep into your lungs. And then fear takes hold of your mind and you start going back in time and you can't seem to stop and it's killing you.

It was a wet night, one of those nights when the smell of mud and wood fills the air and it somehow brings you peace, though at that time there was only one thought inside your head and it was the only thing you were able to focus on. The street was emptier than usual but you could listen to the sounds of bodies dancing to some upbeat electro music as you got closer to your destination. The footsteps behind you were beginning to get on your nerves but you didn't want to lose your temper, so you hastened your pace. Downstairs, you waited. Suddenly, all became a blur and you instantly knew she had arrived, the person you had come all this way for. You didn’t even need to touch her. The deal was done. You walked out higher than ever and were ready to put your strength to the test, so to speak.

Marla had already been waiting for exactly four hours and twenty-six minutes under the cold rain, right at the corner, as she had been instructed. She now began to wonder whether it would be better to forget about this whole business and just go home. But the need was greater than she had expected and she couldn't back off now, not just yet.

Your breath seems to freeze in the air and you can almost feel the tiny ice particles collapse against your skin as they fall back down. The intensity of the colors begins to increase and something tells you to be ready.

Brian woke up really anxious that day. For some reason, he hadn't expected to be this nervous when the time came. After all, this deal meant money and he was in desperate need of some cash, but the whole thing seemed strange and that was why he felt uneasy. Trying not to think about it too much, he got dressed and headed out the door, hoping everything would go smoothly.

As you got lost in the night, all of your worries seemed to disappear. You wanted to make that one worth the while. It had already been too long since you last experienced something so strong and now you couldn't back down. You couldn't lose any time; you had to go face it. You really wanted to make it count.

Jessica couldn't believe her luck. She was finally heading to that secret place where she would at last get what she had been looking for all this time. Of course it would be expensive, who wouldn't charge that much for such a rare opportunity? At least that's how she saw it, because she knew other people would look down on her for doing such a thing. Well, who cared? She was already there and the promised paradise would soon be hers. She couldn't wait.

You made your way all across the city desperately looking for that thing. You could feel the rush and you knew you were wasting time. You had to do it before everything was over. It had to be done.

Marla was being escorted. She was surrounded by four of them and they were all walking towards that unknowable area. Her need had made her wait for another two and a half hours and it seemed like a beast was taking hold of her body. She had to compose herself if she was to have what she was paying for. Her body craved it.

You are now feeling numb because of the ice pressed against your cold body. Pieces of cloth that apparently were torn from your vest are scattered all over the snow and suddenly you become aware of the increasing danger...

Jessica was walking downstairs in a slow-paced manner, her senses were overwhelmed and she was unable to make anything of what was going on. She only remembered the doors opening but after that, everything faded into the kind of memories that come from dreams. Her heart was beginning to beat faster; she could feel her blood rushing through her veins and the warmth that came with this sensation was the most pleasurable thing she had ever felt. She kept walking downstairs.
