Game Set, Play (w|w version)

Before the separation

Sam lay with Alex in Alex's bed. The two of them fell asleep while a half-naked brunette picked up her clothes and left the green painted room, which was half-covered in digital rock band posters.

Liz slept in her bed wearing broadcloth-cotton pyjamas with images of horses while Peter, wearing a long dark purple nightgown, was tucked in a sleeping bag on the floor.

Rose lay with Gwen in Gwen's bed with her arm across Gwen's chest. She wore a baggy t-shirt and running shorts, and Gwen wore loose green pima-cotton pyjamas. Asleep, Gwen rolled over and kicked Rose which threw Rose off the bed. When she hit the ground, Rose opened her eyes and saw the inside of a wide titanium carbide cage. The cage was a little over one meter high and light from its ceiling revealed only its interior.

A hand went across Rose's chest.
Alex said surprised, "Your boobs feel smaller."
"I'm sorry they can't be as big as yours. Can you take your hand off my chest now?" replied Rose more confused about her surroundings than bothered by Alex touching her breasts.
"Rose?" responded Alex confused as she removed her hand from Rose.
"Alex?" said Sam waking up partially snuggled against Gwen. "Why do you sound so far?"
As Sam finished her sentence, Gwen woke up and yanked her body away from Sam's.
Rose sat up and looked around. There were twenty others in the cage including Alex, Gwen, Liz, Peter and Sam. Rose didn't recognize anyone else.

The others were waking up when Liz opened her eyes and half-shouted, "Babe?"
Peter replied, "I'm here, baby." He crawled over to her.
Rose looked at Gwen, who was a few meters away, and said, "We need nicknames like that. Everyone knows that they're together now. How are people going to know that if they hit on you, I'm going to beat them up?"
"Beat them up? Don't you mean glare at them from afar and pray Gwen doesn't leave you for them?" joked Sam.
Alex and Gwen laughed.
Alex added, "Don't worry, bud, after anyone hears the way you two talk to each other, no one is going to hit on either one of you."
"Says the jealous one 'cause we actually talk while you just have sex. Not that I want to know but why are you wearing clothes? Weren't you with Sam?" asked Rose.
Looking down at a light green polka-dotted wool shirt and pants, Alex retorted, "I was. These obviously aren't mine."
Sam was wearing the same type of outfit in pink. She grimaced when she realized what she was wearing. She didn't like light-coloured anything, especially not light-coloured clothes for herself.

"WELCOME!" boomed a voice from unseen speakers around the cage. There was an odd static that seemed to control what they heard. "This is my playground. You have been chosen from your planet to play my game. The game is simple. There are four terrains. You'll be placed in one of three to begin. Then, all you have to do is play."
A thirty-something looking mostly humanoid female with bright orange hair and a thick accent partially stood up and shouted something that they couldn't understand to the voice.
The voice replied, "Amuse me."
A red being with short black hair yelled something that they couldn't understand. It was as if everyone understood the voice despite knowing different languages.
The voice answered, "Figuring it out is half the fun. The game will begin shortly."
Rose crawled over to Gwen. Alex, Liz and Peter joined them. They all looked a little worried and confused.
Trying to comfort herself, Rose said, "I think that there's a good chance this is a dream."
Gwen replied, "This feels pretty real. I doubt we're all sharing a dream."
Alex commented, "That would be cool though."
Liz added, "As cool and as preferable as it would be, something tells me we're not getting out by simply pinching ourselves awake."
Peter pinched his left upper arm hoping Liz was wrong. "I guess not."
Their conversation was ended by a flash of bright yellow light blinding them.
