Meera

"I'm getting married in a month," I tell my family.

All three pairs of eyes turn towards me, opened wide.

Ever since Rudra had told me about how he'd confessed to his family that we'll be married in a month, I had been thinking about how to break this news to my family and friends.

The best way to inform my family was at dinner, I decided, where we were sat together.

"You what?" Kunaal is the first one to break the silence.

"Rudra Mehrotra and I are getting married in a month," I repeat pasting a small smile on my face.

Kunaal searches my eyes as if trying to find the joke in there.

He'd find none.

"Really? Oh! I'm so excited, Meera." My mother says with a smile full of happiness on her face.

"Are you sure?" My dad asks.

I look at him and nod. "Yes, papa. We're sure," I tell him. "He came to meet me and we decided it would be the best if we could get married within a month. His family was really upset after what happened to Mr. Mehrotra and what better way to make them happy."

I wasn't lying. Just manipulating the truth a bit.

Dad nods.

"If you're already decided, how soon can we have the engagement party? If the marriage is within a month, then you should be engaged atmost by the next week. Then we'll have enough time to make all the preparations." mom says, looking at us all.

Engagement.

After a week.

Fuck.

Why does everyone keep dropping bombs on me wherever I go.

"I think we should let Meera and Rudra decide," dad says softly.

Yes. Which means I'll have to talk to Rudra.

Not like I have his number.

I'll ask Naina, the next time we meet.

Which reminds me, that I'll also have to explain it all to Vedika and Naina as well.

Girls night out calling.

Mom and Kunaal agree and we go back to our dinner.

Phew, atleast my family agreed. If I may say so myself, it went pretty well.

I was expecting someone to investigate me on how we decided to get married so soon. But I'm really glad, that they understood us and didn't question us.

After eating we call it a night and I leave for my room

The next evening, Vedika and I leave together for Naina's hotel. It was 7PM when we left our office.

I was dressed in a white crop top, black leather pants, an oversized jacket on top with white sneakers. It was still cold in nights here at Jaipur.
