Everyone on our team had someone they hated on the football team, so that's why we were all surprised when Josie and Jacob started dating.
They supposedly hated each other but the next day at lunch, they walked into the cafeteria hand in hand. I guess something changed at the dinner last night. I was too busy spying on our coaches to notice.
"Kennedy," Taylor called me. "Bonnie wants both you and Daniel in her office."
I nodded. "Thanks Tay."
I walked to Bonnie's office and entered. Good thing I finished my lunch quickly because if Bonnie kept us long, I would not have had time to finish my lunch.
Ugh, why couldn't she have called for me during lunch?
Daniel arrived a few minutes after I did. Once Bonnie noticed both of us were there, she looked up from her computer and smiled, walking over to us.
"Hello kids," Bonnie smiled wider. I did not like where this was going. "As part of the bonding, I want both the football and volleyball teams to sit together everyday during lunch."
My eyes widened in shook. There was no way she could regulate that. "What?! You can't do that!"
"For once I agree with the ogre here," Daniel said, jutting his thumb towards me.
I glared at him. "Yeah, I'm not going to even fight with that ogre comment."
"Yeah because you are one. You're finally admitting it!"
I hardened my glare at him. "Shut up!" I groaned. I turned back to Bonnie. "Anyways, the reason why you can't do that is because school and lunch time is the only time we're free from them." I tried to make my voice seem disgusted when mentioning "them."
"I'm sorry but the championships are coming soon and you guys still haven't shown fast improvement in your attitude towards each other," Bonnie said firmly.
"But two of our teammates are dating!" I protested. "If that's not improvement then I don't know what is."
I turned to Daniel for backup but he just kept silent and looked away. "Daniel," I whisper-yelled at him. "Back me up here!"
"I think Bonnie is right. We have little time and we still haven't had much improvement," Daniel shrugged.
I gaped at him. "Are you kidding me?!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands up in the air. "You're doing this because you enjoy seeing me be tortured."
"Then I guess it's settled," Bonnie said, looking back and forth between Daniel and me. "You'll start today. You have 20 minutes left of lunch."
After we got outside, I glared at Daniel as hard as I could. "Why did you agree to that?" I sneered at him.
He probably only agreed to get close to Olivia. I had almost forgotten how close they were at Ashley's house last night.
Daniel shrugged and walked off ahead of me into the cafeteria. "Asshole," I muttered, following him inside. He was walking towards his usual lunch table. I assumed he was going to tell his team the news. I walked over to my team.
They were not going to be happy.
"Hey guys," I huffed, sitting down next to Chrissy. "Bonnie wants us to sit with the football during lunch, everyday until the championships."
"Omigod really?" Olivia asked, sounding very excited.
Excited chatter sounded from around the table. This was not the reaction that I was expecting, I thought everyone would be just as upset as me.
