"Cold Cold Cold"

--While DEPRAC tidied up the mess - the mess being a literal dead body in their home - the twins and their friends spoke with DEPRAC officials in the sitting room. It was to be noted, that more pleasant things had occurred in that room, than the circumstances of which they found themself in it now.

"It's a Mudghal dagger," George explained, using his brilliance, and handed over the murder weapon to Inspector Barnes. Barnes had seemed to be present for every misfortune to befall Lockwood and Co., and it made Emily wonder if he was perhaps he was their bad-luck charm.

It would only be revealed later, that it was quite the opposite.

"Indian, 16th century." The boy stated. Emily nodded, from where she stood leaning against the fireplace

"He's right. Our mum had a set. They come in pairs, so if we find the other one - we find who killed Carver."

"No. You've had your shot," Barnes declined Emily's notion. "You made yourselves too conspicuous. Bickerstaff's mirror - the bone glass - it's Fittes' business now."

Anthony scoffed. "You can't be serious." Emily scowled at yet another bad turn of events.

"But, they'll screw it up!" protested the boy who'd successful one a Lockwood's heart. "It'll get into the wrong hands." He wasn't wrong, murder weapons were easily hidden enough if one had a plan.

"Not your problem anymore," Barnes informed gruffly. "I mean, look around. You've got no safeguards, or supervision. And I don't have the time or resources to protect you." He'd sighed, and real worry seemed to emanate from his person.

He truly did care about them - a bunch of nobodies who, in reality, shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things. But, he cared. And that was something to Emily.

"Inspector, I know you don't like us-" her brother spoke up.

"-Yes he does," the empath added quietly, and Barnes looked at her in surprise. She shrugged.

"Fine. You don't like our methods, and that's fine," Anthony cast a wary glance in Em's direction. "but they work. We found Annabel Ward's murderer. No on else knows that, but you do. Come on, we're good."

He was begging for another chance to find the mirror, but Emily had a feeling they wouldn't get us.

"What about you, Carlyle?" Barnes looked at the talented girl to Emily's left. "You're unusually quiet." That she was, actually.

"I think we should finish the job," she said, glancing at Lockwood quickly. "We're better place than anyone else. It's our choice, and we know the risks." Well said, Emily thought. And, her little speech worked.

"But I'm not asking you, I'm telling you," Barnes said after he hesitantly gave them permission. "Be smart. You're dealing with real-life criminals here. Flesh and blood. So, you stick to the psychical side. Locate the bone glass," he told them. That, they could do. Probably. Hopefully. "Leave the rest to DEPRAC."

The Inspector was soon called away to another incident, and the teens watched him go.

"Don't let this be that last time I see the four of you alive." And then, on that cheery note, he left.
