~ / Episode Seven - Part One \ ~

"run boy run"

--After the rest of the car ride was rather tense and heavy, like the feeling of the world before a storm, Emily was grateful to see Flo and George standing side-by-side near the river, where they'd agreed to meet earlier that day.

They leapt out of the car, desperate to make it on time. Well, they were hoping to not make it any more late than they already were. As they jogged up to their two friends, Emily noticed that Flo looked pissed.

"You're late." She deadpanned, as the three of them panted. Emily was beginning to regret her decision to wear such a long skirt tonight.

As they approached, she watched George - who had nothing else to distract him - take in her outfit for the evening. Judging by his face, he didn't disprove.

"Sorry, things got weird." Lucy explained quickly.

"Did you get the Dulac book?" George asked, looking right at her. Emily grinned.

"Of course we did," she replied. And although she wouldn't admit it, George looking at her made her feel suddenly shy, as if they hadn't been dating and nearly died together on multiple occasions.

"Now, what's the plan?" Anthony asked, clearing Emily's thoughts.

"The auction's starting any minute and Winkman's locked down the streets," her boy explained quickly and began radiating stress. "So, basically, we're screwed."

"Oh, have a little faith, George," Flo scoffed, and the boy turned to look at her - in fear or awe, Emily couldn't tell. "London ain't just the streets, you know. Now, stay close and no talking."

With that lovely pep talk out of the way, Flo took off running down the cobblestone road, like a dark raven through an even darker night. Lockwood and Co. took a glance at one another, before heading out after her.

Emily's bare feet hit the chilly pavement, and resulting effect from the cold was like drinking espresso. Her tiredness faded, and instead she felt rather excited at their night expedition. A part of her wished they'd just let it go, but Emily couldn't imagine the pain of having to lose George to this - mirror - so she assented to help.

Also, she wouldn't dare let her brother do anything this stupid alone.

As they jogged, she saw George remained quite close to her. In fact, she had to slow her pace a fraction so as to not leave him behind. Her hand became icy cold, and she almost yelped, until George's curly head came into view.

He'd grabbed her hand, and they ran together towards whatever surprise Flo had in store for them.
