The lift pinged, announcing the arrival of her destination.
Taking a slow breath, she unclutched her fingers and practiced her smile a few times before walking out, head held up as she sauntered between the curious looks thrown at her. In her awake, she left people whispering, wide eyes, and surprised faces which followed her movements towards the pre-occupied conference room.
She licked her lips, clenching her jaw to make the smile cold and dominating as she willed herself to enter the room filled with wolves.
Her fingers turned the knob and the door clicked open.
All eyes flew to her as she interrupted the ongoing meeting without care. What followed her arrival was a few gasps, a crash of the presenter's stock, and a chair thrown back as the woman who run the company stood up.
Her face was a mix of emotions, the harsh black eyes condemned her act of gate-crashing their smooth-running meeting.
"Missed me, guys?" She chirped in an attempt to keep her voice steady and not dwindling, just like her heart and mind were on a verge of fear and nervousness.
Was being nervous not an immediate response for someone who went missing and suddenly returned?
She thought it was normal, just not hers.
"Vandita?" Malvika's jaw dropped, blinking in surprise as she walked towards the switches rather than asking her assistant to do the honor.
"Who else?" She shrugged playing with her luck.
"I thought you were dead." Malvika's unsophisticated whisper was enough to make her step inside.
"Not so soon. What do you think would happen if I died? What about our dream project? Cannot leave you hanging alone, can I?" She tried her hand at joking, as she raised a brow tilting her head at Farah, making the girl scowl but empty her seat immediately.
"Leave me hanging? Oh, you don't get to talk about it." Malvika glared but composed back to her work face. "Sit and let's continue where we left off. Rest I'll deal with you when we are alone."
