Chapter 5

Jack

"Hey wait up!" this Alex kid called to me. Ugh he was really starting to get on my nerves. Why doesn't he understand I don't need him. I can't trust anyone anymore. "What!?" I said raising my voice. "Sorry..." he said. "I just thought maybe we could walk together and talk. " "Listen Alex, we can't be friends.." I said with my head down. "Why?" he asked. I sighed and answered " Because why would you wanna be friends with me? I don't know if you know, but around here I'm known as the 'anorexic faggot'. You shouldn't let a useless Faggot like me keep you from having actual friends.." I said pain in my voice and tears burning my eyes. " Then we aren't that different afterall." he said. He opened his mouth to say something else but was cut off by Garret and his posse. " Wassup Barafagg?" he said grabbing my hair and forcing me to the ground. Just as he was about to kick me in my head he was stopped by Alex. "What the fuck are you doing?!?!?!" yelled Alex,

Squaring up to Garret. " Whoa there little fag back the fuck up" said Garret as he pushed Alex to the ground. " Come on Garret we have to go meet Natielie in the back room." called one of his "friends". Garret scoffed and looked down at us. " I was done with these two fags anyway." he called down the hall as he walked away. I pulled my aching body off the ground and helped Alex up. "You okay?" Alex asked. " Yea... But Alex... Why did you stand up for me?" i said. He looked at me in the eyes, smiled, and said " Because that's what friends do for each other." I could feel my cheeks burn red and butterflies exploded in my stomach. I couldn't help but smile back at him. For the first time in a while, I was actually happy. I should probably give this guy a chance. " Oh shit I gotta go Jack my moms gonna be pissed. But can I have your number?" he said looking down at his phone. "umm.. Yea. "I said smiling bright at him. After we exchanges numbers and went our separate ways, I started my journey home. But just like that I was at my front door. What? Where did all the time go? I then realized I was too busy thinking about Alex. The way his hair, smile, face, body, eyes, everything about him was... Just....Perfect. I walked inside my house fearing my drunken father, but was confronted by an empty house. He was most likely off to the bar. This day couldn't get any better. I smiled to myself as I made my way down the stairs to my room. Suddenly my phone rang and it signaled a text from Alex. " Hey c:" it read. "Hia ^_^!" i replied. I smiled at myself, but I realized something was missing. I went to edit the name and added a purple heart beside Alex's name. 
