The Siloet Upon the Skyline

Upon the rooftops
Upon the skyline
A siloet sits in silence

The siloet cried
For his brothers did not hide
The vile words they said
All the while, he was at their side

He hadn't meant to cry
Nor did he feel a want to die
But an emptiness inside
Told him otherwise

Long ago
He made a promise
That he dared not utter
He'd outlive the moon
Or die for a brother

He loved his family
They loved him too, he knew
But sometimes the words get into his head
Sometimes, he thinks he's better off dead

So upon the rooftop, he stared at the moon
Longing for a sign of what he knew

Upon the sun's climb
The moon fell back
And yet again, he realized
That yes, the stars do die

And yes, the sun will, too,
But he's determined to outlive the moon
So he won't leave soon

Because he made a promise
That he dared not utter
He said he'd outlive the moon
Or die for a brother

So he told himself
"I know my place
Keep up the facade
Do not show your strength
Keep a card, your ace

Keep it hidden
From enemy and friend
Use it only in times of dire
Raise the heat of your internal fire"

This was the ultimatum
He repeated in his head
One that in the end
Might result in him dead

But for his family
For his friends
He'll stick to it till the end
