Preface : The Twins That Lived

TO HAVE BEEN LOVED SO DEEPLY , EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON WHO LOVED US IS GONE ,WILL GIVE US SOME PROTECTION FOREVER.

31st October 1981

It was a dark and gloomy night. The sky was dressed in black silk and silver stars.

Lily and james potter sat in their small yet cozy home in Gordic Hollow with their children ; Harry and Hayley potter.

The babies were smiling and giggling as their father was playing with them. They were the perfect bundle of joy. Their faces were beaming with so much happiness that attracted Lily's attention.

These were the moments she always cherished and adored. She wished that the time would stop here itself. That the horrible prophecy which is hounding over her childern would never come true but she knew that life isn't that easy.

Her thoughts were cut of by the high-pitched laugh of the twins. She quickly brushed all the negative thoughts and went towards them ; the three people she loved and cherished the most.

Talking a look at her children she observed that Harry had jet black hair , inherited from his father ; on the other hand Hayley had light red and brown texture hair but they both inherited the same bright , twinkling eyes that Lily had given them. The twins almost looked similar except for their hairs.

Smiling to herself , Lily walked to her husband's side and kissed his cheek.

"Come on James , it's time for them to sleep." Lily said.

"Oh come love , we were having fun." James whined.

"You can surely play with them tomorrow. And even Sirius and Remus will also come to meet them." She tried to reason with him as she know how whiny James become if Harry and Hayley are taken away from them.

"Alright as you say , my love." James said

Smiling at his cheesy line of James she picked a yawing Hayley from the ground and walked to their room. James followed her lead with Harry in his arms.

They both went upstairs and put Harry and Hayley in the crib. The twins were always close with each other , from the moment they could play with each other. In fact that they even sleep in the same crib.

"Sleep well , my little prince and princess." James said and then kissed both of his children's forehead.

"Good night , sweethearts" Lily said , adoring the two sets of bright green eyes.

The scene was cut short when they heard a creaking sound. This sound made both the parents alert because with the kids around not many people were allowed. And Sirius and Remus were supposed to come tomorrow not today.

"I'll go and check." James said while pulling his wand out of his pocket.

Lily nodded but she had this fear that it was their worst nightmare.

But neither Lily nor James knew that what this horrifying night has stored for them. That after this James would never see Harry and Hayley again.

James reached the door and peered out the window , only to see a dark clocked figure walking - almost gliding towards the front door.
