Deion LaPadite gazed down the black hole his enemy had disappeared into, the twisted body of a rabbit clenched in his fists.
"My lord" his guard captain essayed cautiously.
"We have not heard anything back from the men we sent down after him, perhaps..." his words faltered under the wrecked visage of the knight, face still smeared in blood from a crushed nose, one eye bloodshot and slightly off from the other.
Deion stared at his guard captain for a long moment. then he remembered the rabbit in his hands and contemptuously threw the body down the dark shaft.
"Cut the rope, have our men scour the sides of the seamount for ventilation shafts."
He turned to leave.
"And set this forsaken patch of land and everything on it to the torch."
