It was Nesta and Cassians wedding day. Rhys was making sure the wedding was indeed- over the top. It was the least he could do for Nesta after the sacrifice she had made for him, Fayre and Nyx. Cassian loved it, eyes bright in awe of all the flowers just as he imagined it would be for his mate.
"Wow Rhys I don't think I could have don't it better my self, though I would have included some fine Illyrian touches my self, like a fighting ring, so we could really have some fun". Cassian wrapped his arm around Rhys gripping his shoulder a little to tight.Rhys huffed and low laugh and Nesta rolled her eyes.
Nesta, of course, thought it was over the top but, She was grateful and excited for this next chapter with Cassian.
"Has anyone seen Gwyn?" Nesta asked with concern in her voice. She had asked some of the High Priestsess to sing at her wedding and Gywn was supposed to lead the chorus when she walked down the isle.
"I think she's still at the house of the wind, I will have Mor or Az fetch her." Rhys said in a relaxed voice.
Fayre smiled at him from across the room. Please keep her relaxed today. We don't want the flames blazing in her eyes before she makes it to the alter.
Rhys smiled to him self as that would absolutely be the worst thing possible. Don't worry, I'll have cassian extinguish her before she does. Feyre smiled back and send a loving gesture down the bond.
"Okay boys time to go, Nesta needs to get ready and it's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding" Emrie said shoving Cassian and Rhys out the large doors into the hallway. Cassian wasn't budging until Nesta threw him a glare. He knew then, that he needed to go.
Rhys shoved Cas laughing down the hallway "you are definitely scared of her".
Cassian shoved Rhys smiling "Maybe, but trust me I know how to tame her."
They heard a faint laugh behind them, it was Azriel.
"That's not what it sounded like the other night when you pissed her off by laying your knifes around her book shelf," He laughed "she really handed it to you".
Cassian rolled his eyes "I was finding a new hiding place, you never know when danger is going to come knocking".Rhys turned to Az, "I need you to get Gwyn from the house of wind." Az looked pale as his shadows started swarming around him.
"Is there... something wrong?" Rhys asked.
"No- no I can get her." He said.
"Great, thank you brother. The ceremony starts in two hours but she needs to be here in an hour to practice with the orchestra." Rhys said sternly as if he was sending Az on an important spy mission.Cassian grabbed Az's shoulder, Az noticed his tight grip then gave him an odd look in return. "Please... get Gwyn here on time. If you don't I might not get bedded tonight." Az smiled "I'll make sure she's 2 hours late" and then he vanished.
Rhys was laughing off to the side. Cassian looked worried "you don't think he was serious, do you?"
Rhys's laughter grew "you really are scared of her huh?"
Cassian rolled his eyes, "was your mate created by the cauldron, I don't think so."
You got me there.🦇🔷🦇
Azriel flew over the house of wind. No Gywn in sight. Usually he spotted her in the ring practicing.
They had been secretly spending a lot of time together before the solstice. He would find himself down in the library to give her "information from the high lord and lady" but it was just to see her. Sometimes he would invite her to have lunch with him after morning practice. He liked her company their simple friendship.Apart of him was happy that she wasn't outside. He remembered he had asked Coltho to giver her the necklace from the solicits, Elaines necklace... that she returned to him. His stomach turned.
He was still bummed about that night, what Rhys had told him. Az has been avoiding her at all cost. Trying not to disturb the bond between her and Lucian.
Az walked into the house of wind and down to the library. He saw Coltho sitting at her usual desk. She looked at him and noticed his wedding attire.
Looking for Gwyn?
" Yes, do you know where I can find her?"
I saw her last organizing books on the 3rd level. If she's not there I'll call for her
"Thank you Coltho"
Of course, also the necklace made her so happy she hasn't taken it off, still doesn't know who it's from.
Az just nodded in thanks and made his way to the 3rd floor. There she was, indeed organizing books just as Clotho said she'd be doing.
She sensed his presence and gasped looking him in his eyes. "Shadowsinger, you startled me. I was just finishing up here." Gwyn said softly.Az was speechless, the way her copper hair flowed down to her mid back in perfect loose curls, her eyes crystal blue clearer than waters in the summer court, her lips full and pink, and her dress was undeniably exquisite. Even with her hood covering most of it.
It was a dark blue gown that sparkled like a thousand stars in the sky embroidered with diamonds along wrist of her sheer oversized sleeves that fell perfectly over her arms, and thousands of diamonds that pooled around her feet.
The dress dipped lower in the front not too revealing but exposing the top half of her breast and shoulders hugging all her curves just right. And right in the middle of her beautiful chest sat the necklace he had given Coltho to gift her. It looked so much better on her.Gwyn noticed his gawking "um shadowsinger... are you alright?" She smirked, cheeks turning red because she knew too, that she looked exquisite, Nesta made sure of it.
Az snapped out of it finally noticing how crazy his shadows were swarming, they always did that around her. His shadows never hid from Gwyn... like they did Elaine.
"Sorry Gwyn, you just look so-", he couldn't find the right words so he simply said "Beautiful." She blushed again.
"Better than the Illyrian leathers, huh?" She laughed.
"Oh, much much better." His eyes darkened as he looked over her once more. Making sure not to miss a single inch of her.
She neared him walking right past him as she trailed a finger down his muscular arm.
Az inhaled sharply and exhaled throwing his neck back. He knew what she was doing and it couldn't happen here.
He turned to her standing on the stairwell."I was asked to come and retrieve you so that you may practice with the orchestra before the ceremony". He nervously said waiting for her to say something anything.
"Okay, let me just put this last book away." She walked up to the second floor.
The book she was putting away was supposed to go on the top shelf.
She stood on her tip toes trying to wedge to book into place. The book began to slip from her fingers threatening to smash her beautiful face.
Az didn't hesitate as he moved, barely catching the slipping book from her fingers. He was now towering over her pushing himself against her as she laid pressed against the shelf. The shadow danced around them both as Azriel put the book in its place.
She could feel his hardness pressing on her abdomen. She became flushed.Gwyn looked afraid as she laid her hand on her chest trying to control her breathing. Az looked down to her now knowing what he had done. "Gwyn- I am sorry, I ...", he began to say she looked at his concerned hazel eyes and relaxed.
"I'm okay, thank you for saving me from that, book. That would have been a catastrophe".
Az just nodded feeling guilty about what he had just done. He never wanted her to feel uncomfortable around him. He tried to brush off the awkwardness."Ready?" He said looking away from her.
"Yes."
Az winnowed them away.
