"I wonder if Hibiki is alright," Kagami mumbled in his seat as he watched the seat behind him to his right.

"She seems kind," Kuroko added. He looked from the seat to his friend. "Did you know she was Aomine-kun's sister?"

With a slow nod, his eyes never left the seat. "His twin sister. When she said twin, I thought, sister, but it was actually twin brother. Heh. I wasn't expecting it." Kagami kept replaying the previous afternoon in his head. He couldn't make heads or tails of her reaction. The warning bell rang, and Kagami sighed. "She must have taken the day off." He turned in his seat to face the front.

The bell rang for classes to begin, and they proceeded on and on.

About third period, the teacher had been talking about a math equation and had a test problem on the board. "Who would like to answer this problem?"

The class was silent. No one raised their hands or spoke up. The teacher looked a little disappointed, but the hand all the way in the back went up slowly. She gestured for the person to answer. Walking up to the board was the girl that the two boys were worried about. They looked at the seat they thought was empty, and it most definitely had books and a bag there.

"Thank you, Hibiki-san."

With a proper equation breakdown, Hibiki wrote out the answer and how she got there. The teacher nodded in approval, and Hibiki sat back down.

"Nice job, Hibiki-san. You are correct. You were the only one to offer an answer. Was anyone else confused or needed more explanation?" Nobody gave an answer.

With a sigh, the teacher went over to her desk and flipped through a few pages. Going back up to the board, she wrote "HOMEWORK" with a few pages and question numbers on the board below it.

"I expect this back by tomorrow. Please do this on loose-leaf paper so I can grade it. Now I have your tests from last Friday here. I'll be passing them out. I don't want to make any of you feel bad, but I must ask that most of you should study more. Find a partner from the class or get a tutor. The semester has just begun, but based on these last few weeks and the tests, I can predict that at this rate, you won't do well in the semi-finals or the finals. I'm saying this for your benefit. Please heed my warning, or you will have to redo this class." The teacher said as she passed out the tests. Hibiki was handed hers and she had a nearly perfect score of 98%. Kuroko and Kagami both got theirs and paled when they saw them. They both had less than a 50% score.

"If you have less than a 75%, please seek to do better. If you need me, I will be setting aside time for tutoring with me. I haven't yet set times, but I am planning it." The teacher looked at the sea of students whose expressions varied all throughout the room. "I'd also like to make it aware that after the next test, for most of you, if you are a member of a club, you must raise your grades or you'll have to sit out of club activities until your grades go up. That's not my rule but one of the school rules. Your grades come first. That will be all. You have fifteen minutes left for class. I'll allow you to start the homework, get in groups to study later, ask me questions, whatever it may be, just do not be loud, please." The teacher sat down and opened her notebook as some students approached her desk. Kagami and Kuroko were some of the first.

They didn't even have to say a word. "Yes, you both, Kagami-kun and Kuroko-kun, must raise your grades by the next test. I apologize for saying so, but we can not make exceptions, even for you two. You need to make at least a 75 on the next test, or you'll be pulled off the starting lineup until your grades are good."

The boys heard and understood what she had said. They went back to their seats a little worried and defeated as they thought about what to do. Kuroko had looked over to Hibiki and saw her score as well as saw her putting away her textbook. She noticed him watching her and made eye contact.
