Izuku stumbled his way through the always of the city, leaving a heavy bloody trail behind him as he walked. He was glad that kurogiri used his portal. If he didn't Izuku would have just felt a blood trail to the bar."Dammit. I shouldn't have let Toga go so far." Muttering to himself. He had to admit, it's a lot more realistic when it's this bad. He had a destiny pain tolerance, but it still hurt. Alright, this should be far enough from the bar, he declared as he stumbled out of the ally. Blood dripped from his mouth, his eyes squinting to the bright sun, his head getting heavy. He could hear the panic of the people who had been walking down the street. He heard as a few approached, good. I have there attention, now maybe I can-
Before he could finish his train of thought he had collapsed and passed out.
He woke up in a white room. He was in a soft bed with blue sheets. As he glanced around he noticed a window to the left and a door to the right. Alright, i'm in the hospital. I need to be prepared for a whole lot of questioning. He groaned as he sat up. He could hear someone call "Please don't run in the halls ma'am!" from in the halls, he looked over to see a small woman bursting through the door, tears streaming down her pale cheeks. He instantly recognized her, mom.
"IZUKU!"She cried as she ran over, hugging him tightly. He instantly noticed his mom had gained a few pounds. But the thing that broke his heart the most was her eyes. The bags that sagged her eyelids. It was obvious his mother hadn't been sleeping well.
"I thought you were gone forever! Dead- I Thought-"She sobbed, clutching to Izuku.
Izuku immediately felt emotions tug at his heart. He never realized how much he missed his mom. How bad he felt for leaving her behind. He hugged her tightly, his eyes wide. The warmth of her body against his brought back what emotions he thought he lost. He didn't have to fake the tears that slid down his cheeks. He closed his eyes tightly. You could never replace the feeling of the embrace of a mother.
They spent a good amount of time just holding each other. Izuku's shaking, his tears, his pain. He didn't have to fake.
"I thought you ran away- that day- what I said-"She stumbled her words as she sobbed. Ah, that day. He had found out he was going to be quirkless. He remembered the words his mother said. Those sad words.
"I thought you hated me- that I failed as a mother, oh my baby i'm so sorry!"She sobbed. Shock and guilt hid him like a wave. He left his mom with this burning guilt. The burden of loneliness. He left, just like his father. He was just like his father after all huh..
"I'm so sorry mom, I promise I never forgot you. Every day I fought to escape to get you,"He whispered. As much as it hurt to lie, it seemed to calm his mother down a bit.
They both turned to see a man at the door. A young man stood there. Izuku guessed this was the guy that would be questioning him.
"Excuse me ma'am, I understand you were just reunited with your son. But I must speak with young Izuku."he said calmly, his face unreadable. His mother slowly turned to the man, she took a long moment then turned to her son and let go. The sweetest smile on her face only crushed his heart more.
"Alright, i'll be back soon, ok?"she cupped Izuku's cheeks in her palms, kissing the tip of his nose. Izuku nodded, forcing a smile to comfort her. She turned and left the room. Izuku turned to the man. He didn't need to fake his shaking or trauma at the moment. Still overcome by his emotions from finally seeing his mom again, his body trembled with regret, treats stretched from his eyes.
"My name is Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, I would like to ask you a few questions, young Midoriya."He said calmly. Izuku slowly nodded, looking down at his hands. He didn't know what quirk this guy could have, so he needed to be careful. Then again only licensed heroes can use their powers.
"Are you aware of the Quirkless Miss case?"He asked calmly, holding up a notepad and pen. Izuku heard a few words on the streets. He slowly shook his head, a kid captured by villains wouldn't hear about this.
"Well."he started"There have been multiple cases of quirkless people disappearing. Most of them have been children 5 to 15. You are the only one to be found and recovered. We have connected the cases, we would like to know whether or not you were with other children around your age. Or anyone else that might have been quirkless."Tsukauchi said calmly. Izuku thought for a good moment. If he said he was tied into this case he would be questioned further, he needed to redirect it away from the idea that he is connected to the case.
"All I remember is that when I was going for a walk some guy in a black hoodie with a medical mask grabbed me and put me in a van"
'Lie. your good at that' said a voice though only Izuku can hear it whispering in his ear but it more like hear it in his thoughts
"There was another guy in the van, same outfit. We drove for some time"he hesitated, putting his hand onto his forehead, acting like it was hard for him to remember. He focused on making his shading worse. Make it seem like thinking back is upsetting.
"Calm down Midoriya, you are safe here. Don't worry."Tsukauchi said softly, sitting down in a stool next to the bed. "Don't strain yourself, tell me what you can. Don't worry about what you can't remember"He said, smiling. Izuku shifted around in the bed, He doesn't seem too hard to fool. That or he's secretly writing down that everything I'm saying is a lie. Let's hope it's the first one. Izuku looked down to his hands, gripping the sheets in his fists. He exhaled a shake breath.
"There was no one else around, I can't remember a lot of it.... I don't know why-"He sped up his breathing, making it look like a panic attack was on its way. It was surprisingly easy to act. He wondered where he learned it. Maybe it was all that time of pretending to be All Might. He felt a warm hand fall onto his shoulder, his back stiffened immediately. It felt just like....He quickly shook his head in a panic. And glanced over, it was only the detective boy. He had a concerned look. Wow, is everyone going to be this easy to fool? He couldn't lie to himself though, that moment of panic. Why would he panic when someone simplu touched his shoulder?
"It's alright, I think that's enough for today"He smiles kindly then got up and left the room. He could hear him talk to his mother for a minute or two.
Izuku exhaled as he flopped back down onto the bed, he winced in pain when he did so. He looked up at the room for a good long moment, his gaze blank and tired. Maybe he could finally get some sleep while on this mission, let's hope crusty doesn't want anything. Izuku closed his eyes, and started to think.
He guessed his mother had come back into the room while he was sleeping. He had been woken up by the door opening, it was, Mis Bakugou? What was Kacchans mother doing here?
"Inko!"she hurried over and hugged his mom while Izuku sat up and rubbed his eyes. She seemed glad to see her, a smile had crossed her face when she saw Mis Bakugou. He was surprised by the look in her eyes when she turned to him. She was oddy relieved. Has she been worried about him?
"I'm so glad to see you back and alright"she said softly. He'd forgotten how nice she was. The memories of her arguing with kacchan filled his head and he bit back a chuckle. It was nice to see her.
"Wheres kacchan?"he tilted his head and glanced around, he couldn't ignore the small spark of hope deep in his chest that kacchan might actually have cared. Maybe even have changed while he was gone. But that hope was shattered to the look on the mother's face.
"He didn't want to come."She said softly, but she quickly lifted her eyes "I think he just can't see you right now. He's had it ruff for the past few years" so he did care? Or- that doesn't matter. Not right now, he had a mission. He didn't need kacchan to stick his nose into his business. A curious Bakugou is a dangerous one.
