Chapter one

I squinted my eye as I stepped off of the bus, the bright, blue sky blinding me for a second. I had my headphones on, of course, like always, at this point it was abnormal to see me without them.

When I got to the entrance, I took it off and put it in my black backpack next to my books, being careful not to crease the edges of my textbook. As soon as I walked in, I immediately got this strange feeling.

I've had a headache and dizziness for a few days now, but it seems to be getting worse today. My mom says it's probably due to the sudden change in weather, which is totally possible, because sometimes my hands are like icicles, sometimes I'm sitting in tank tops. Although, today she said that if I still feel like crap today, she will take me to the doctor tomorrow.

As I walked down the hall, I heard people around me talking about all sorts of insignigicant things. At least, they were insignificant to me. A few people waved or said "Good morning Lilly!" but all I could think about was the fucking headache. I srunched up my nose, a frown taking over my facial features. This was not me at all, I loved talking to people! Some people must have seen my frown, because next thing I know, my friend Janice is walking up to me, her short auburn hair swaying slightly, concern in her honeybrown eyes.

"Hey, you okay? You look like Percy Thallas when he got kicked in the groin by Amanda Fishers last week."-  she greeted me.

"Wow, thanks so much for comparing me to the grade's  biggest asshole"- I said, earning an eye roll but a chuckle from her, neverthless.

"No but really, are you okay?"

"It's- uhm, do you also feel....weird, nowdays?"

Her eyes bored into mine, a confused glint in them. With a frown on her face she looked at me.

"Uhh, depends what you mean by weird. Like, weird as in not feeling great or-"

"Like you feel something. I don't know what but I just feel like something is about to change." - by now I was staring down on my shoes, the odd feeling returning even stronger. Maybe this is only a me-thing. Could it be? Maybe I just tell myself that something will happen to mask my headache. Because nothing will happen. Because what would happen? Closing my eyes, I started to try to calm myself, chanting 'it's nothing, just don't stress about it' in my mind. Of course it didn't help, and I only snapped back into the real world when Janice put her hand on my shoulder.

"Okay, I don't know exactly what you mean by weird, but if you feel bad, I think you should go home. I don't want to be sick at the beginning of the summer vacation because of you," she said, putting a little distance between the two of us.

I wanted to shout that I wasn't feeling sick in that sense, but then she would surely ask "then how?" and I wouldn't be able to answer because I don't know myself. That's why I just lowered my head, nodded and muttered a a soft "alright".

"I'm going to Algebra, but I'll see you after school, right?" Ah yes, the meeting after school has become a ritual by now. Actually, I don't even know how it started, just that we have starting hanging out in the park like a year ago.

"I'll see. I might go home."

"Sure, that's fine, just text me what's up, don't make me go all the way to the park for nothing!"- actually, the park wasn't too far away from her house but she hated walking.

I already knew my answer was going to be no. My head was all fuzzy and I was in a trance. Like derealization. Nothing felt real, it was almost as if my head was in the clouds but my body was trapped here, and I was not going to go out feeling like this. As much as I love Janice and as much as I love watching the basketball boys who always trained then, I'm gonna pass today.

I headed to my class, Ancient History. I loved that class, the teacher was nice and we studied interesting things.

Before I walked into class I checked to see if I looked  just as bad as I felt in my phone's camera. Thankfully, I still looked great, so I just headed in.

The teacher greated me as I took a seat, and suddenly the room was full of students, waiting for the class to begin. And so it did. It was boring, which made my head hurt even more for some reason. I mean, normally I would find Ancient Rome interesting, but in my condition it was not so great. Plus I'm pretty sure we learned the exact same thing last year, so I was not too thrilled by this.

It was about halfway through the class when I realized I could not take it and my poor head needed a break.

"Excuse me, Ms. Tesla, may I go to the restroom?"- Ms. Tesla turned around smiled then nodded, before going back to explain the lesson. Something about the roman gods...

I quickly got out of my desk and practically ran to the toilet, running down 3 corridors, but at I got there atlast. I pushed the door open, seeing that noone was in here other then me, which wasn't a big surprise, the reason I chose to come to this toilet was because I knew noone used it, hence it being probably the cleanest room in the whole school.

I quickly did my thing, I don't think it needs any explanation or detail. After I flushed the toilet I went to wash my face. I watched the way the crystal water ran from the tap before taking some of it in my hands and splashing my face with it. Thank god I decided to wear waterproof mascara so it didn't get smeared all across my face.

My hands rested on either side of one of the sinks while I stared at my reflection in the mirror, panting from the running still. I watched as the water trickled down my cheeks and the way some of the beads of it rested on my painted lashes. It felt cool against my warm skin, soothing, almost.

I had just finished drying my hands, my face already being dry, just some tiny droplets on my lashes could tell I had rinsed my face, but they were barely noticable, so it was all good.

Just then, I heard a noise coming from my phone, a noise I have not heard in a while. The noise being the EAS Alarm.
