Damon sat staring at the flames that seemed to be screaming at him from their home in the fireplace. As he lifted the glass of bourbon to his lips flashes of that night with Bonnie flooded every corner of his mind. No matter how hard he tired to put it in the back of his mind and forget it he just couldn't. The memories of his hands on her soft body, her soft lips and her hands roaming his body were to strong to ignore. He could still feel her tiny hands on his chest and running through his hair. He remembered how skeptic she was about going that far with him but he saw in her eyes the moment she decided to give in to her own desires. That night Damon made love to her like he'd never done before. He touched, kissed and held her body with more passion and love than he'd done with any other woman including Elena. The sound of glass shattering sounded through the room. Damon stared wide eyes at the flames before him as it hit him. He felt like he'd just been hit by a semi truck.

"No." he says in a whisper as he consciously searches his brain for the moment when it happened, the moment he saw the witch for more than just a use of power. Was it when she took his hand the moment before they died? Was it when she saved him from being killed by Kai? Was it the moment she sacrificed herself to send him home?

No.

It was the moment she looked him in the eyes and told him that she no longer believed him to be a monster. She no longer saw him as this psychotic, sadistic and evil man but as a man who would do anything for the people he loved.

"No. No, No, No!" he growled getting to his feet and glaring down at the flames.

Stefan walked into the room to find his brother standing in front of the fireplace,"Damon?" he calls to him. Damon glanced over his shoulder at his younger brother. Stefan could see, from the expression on Damon's face, that his brother was a bit distraught. "What happened?" he asked.

Damon groaned as he turned his gaze back to the screaming flames, "Bonnie, that's who happened?" he says.

Stefan appeared before his brother, "I'm lost." he says.

Damon tore his gaze from the flames and met his brothers gaze. Was he really going to tell his brother what he'd just realized a moment ago? Yeah, mind as well. "I'm in love with her." he says.

Stefan cocked his head, "Who?" he didn't want to assume that he was speaking about being in love with Bonnie. The two hated each other. Plus, Damon loved Elena. He fought hard to win her heart.

Damon lifted his hands and took his brothers face in his hands, staring intensely into his eyes, "The Witch, Stefan. I'm in love with Bonnie!" he snarled, letting his face go.

Stefan took a step back shaking his head in shock. His brother just confessed to being in love with Bonnie. "Are you sure?" he questioned.

Damon shot his brother a glare, "I think I'd know if I'm in love with someone or not." he spat.

"What about Elena?" he asked.

Damon shrugged, "She doesn't even remember our relationship. She had Alaric compel her to forget us, remember?"

Stefan nods, "Yes, but she knows that the two of you were together."

Damon turned to his brother, "I don't care." he says.

"Does anyone else know?" Stefan asked.

Damon shakes his head,"No. I only realized it a moment ago." he says.

"What made you realize that you were in love with Bonnie?"

"The moment she stopped seeing me as a hott, smoldering, egotistical, psychotic, evil vampire and as a hott, egotistical man who would do anything to protect the people he cares about." he says.

Stefan couldn't do anything but stare at his brother. He thought that the looks he gave Elena and the way he spoke about her was looks and talk of love but as he stands here now talking about/thinking about Bonnie he could truly see that Damon felt more for her than he ever did about Elena or Katherine.

"Does Bonnie know how you feel?" he asked.

"Didn't I just say I only realized my feelings for the witch a moment ago?" Damon spat.

Stefan brushed his comment off,"You had to LIKE her before you fell in love with her. Does she know that you like or liked her...more than a friend?" Stefan voiced.

Damon sighed, "She should." he says.

"And why is that?" Stefan asked, folding his arms over his chest.

"I don't make love to just anyone, Stefan. I may sleep with women but I NEVER make love to women I feel nothing for." he says.

Stefan couldn't stop his jaw from hitting the floor even if he wanted to. Damon just said that he and Bonnie made love. "Wait, what?" he gaped.

"You're a vampire, Stefan. So, I know you heard me."

"You and Bonnie..." he trailed off.

"Yup." he says.

"No compulsion?"

Damon glares at him," No, you idiot. Bonnie can't be compelled."

"I thought with the two of you dying that things would change." Stefan defended.

"Well, they didn't. At least in that particular department." he says as he sat down in the chair.

Stefan took a deep breath and sat down in the chair across from Damon, "Wow."

"That's not how I would describe it but..." he tore his gaze from the flames once again and looked at Stefan, "it was...addicting. It was like nothing I've EVER experienced in my entire existence on earth." he says.

Stefan gave a faint smile, "That good, huh?"

Damon nods as the smile on his lips disappeared, "I was somehow able to compelled her to forget everything, Stefan." he says. "I'd tried to compel her to forget a lot of things but it never worked but for some reason it did after we made love." he says.

"Why do you think that is?" Stefan asked.

"I don't know. At the moment I really wanted her to forget what we had just done."

"Why? Did you regret it?"

Damon shook his head, "Not for even one second."

"Then why make her forget?" Stefan asked.

Damon took a deep breath and let it out, "I know Bonnie, Stefan. The next day she would have felt guilty about what had happened between us and she would have felt like she'd betrayed her best friend and Jeremy." he says. "We'd been stuck over there for three and a half years and still she felt like if she'd gave in she would be hurting Elena and Jeremy."

"What did you think?" Stefan asked him.

"After a year ad a half of being dead, I'd come to grips that we were never getting out of hat place and that we were stuck there forever. When I realized that I started seeing Bonnie as more than just a friend, after realizing that I found myself being attracted to her, I assumed that Elena would want me to be happy and at peace and what better way to find peace and happiness than with someone I trusted and could call friend?" he says.

Stefan sighed, "Looks like Bonnie didn't see things that way." Stefan says.

"She's a loyal friend. One of the things I love and hate about her sometimes." Damon growled.

"So, what are you going to do?"

Damon leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes, "Do what I do best." he says.

"Fight?" Stefan suggested.

Damon opened his eyes and turned his head in his brothers directions, "No, brother. I'm going to woo her. I'm going to show her WHY she should choose me." he says.art writing
