The Gilbert Facility, a hospital located in California, was tasked by the U.S. government with an important task. Around that time, a deadly disease was ravaging the western United States, and the government tasked the facility to find a way to end the pandemic. The facility tried to come up with many things to end it, but to no success. Until May of 1972, when they had come up with the idea of transferring a person’s body into a robot as a way to save the person. They came up with the “Save the children” program. Their mechanics built 3 animatronics that were, by all means, more advanced than any robots made before. 3 children infected with the virus, patients 20, 48, and 63, volunteered for the program. They were put under anesthetics and had machinery hooked up to their bodies to transfer their souls to the robotic bodies. Patient 20 would possess Ty, 48 would possess Koly, and 63 would possess Sally. At first the bodies didn't move, and everyone in the room held their breath. “Did… did we do this all for nothing?” came from Gilbert’s son Alei. As the technicians and paramedics went to retrieve the bodies and robots respectively, the robots started to move. A simple “Hello?” was heard, and one of the parents in the rooms immediately recognized her son’s own voice. The program was a success.
