The next day, Michael showed up at her house wearing a sweet sunset-themed hat, pink and purple glasses, a bright green t-shirt and thongs, with a proud look on his face. "I'm ready!" Said Michael. Ana stood there, speechless. Without saying anything, she pulled out her phone and made eye contact with Michael before flipping her screen to show him. He looked confused for a moment. Ana rolled her eyes, and said "We're going to Paris, not Hawaii." Michael giggled. "Yeah, okay whatever." He replied. Ana let Michael inside to help her carry her suitcases to the car.
When they walked inside, the first thing they heard were Ana's parents fighting. Ana blocked her ears and Michael looked away, feeling uncomfortable. "Maybe I should just wait outside, I'll see you there Ana!" Just then, Ana heard a loud thud, after a deadly scream. Ana began crying. She raced to the room where her parents were, and saw that her mum had been smashed by a bookshelf. Her dad had taken it too far. Ana covered her mouth, her dad looking a little frightened. "WELL?" Ana yelled at her dad. "AREN'T YOU GOING TO CALL AN AMBULANCE??" Ana's dad rolled his eyes and dialled the number. Ana fell to her knees, trembling with fear. She got up and lifted the bookshelf off of her mother. It was a terrifying sight. Blood was everywhere, her bones were broken. Ana let out a cold scream, which Michael heard. Michael sprinted into the house and up the stairs. He was speechless as he took a look at what had happened. He sat down next to Ana and hugged her to comfort her. Ana hugged him back and cried on his shoulder.
They started to hear distant sirens and raced outside. Ana waved her arm around to get their attention, they were getting nearer and nearer. The Police and Ambulance were here, investigating the matter. "What's your name?" One of the officers said as she was jotting something down in her notebook. Ana slowly looked up, and replied with, "A-Ana". Just then, she noticed her mother getting carried into the ambulance car. "NO!" She screamed. Nobody seemed to care. Ana put her hands over her face, Michael and her dad were nowhere around. A group of officers started whispering and looking around. "Where's your dad sweetheart?" One of them asked Ana. "I'll go get him." She replied. Ana went inside. At least I can get away from it all for a bit. She thought to herself. After she took a moment to process things, she began looking for her dad. It was weird of him not to be here at a time like this, comforting Ana. She frantically looked around, but there was no sign of him. Ana was about to cry, before she found him in his study with his hands over his head, he looked like he was googling something. Ana peeked over his shoulder and saw what he was searching up. 'If you push a bookshelf over someone and they are seriously injured, will you go to prison? If yes, how long?' Was what he was searching for. Ana's jaw dropped. She didn't realise her dad could be this selfish, to not even care for his wife, but himself. Ana walked away to her room, thinking about the day's events. It was already 11:00pm, and all Ana wanted to do was sleep and forget it all. She closed her eyes as she slowly drifted off to sleep.
