Jisoo's POV

I hid my smirk as Jennie came back into the court room, lips plump and pink. Her eyes met mine for a second, that lustful glint still there but controllable.

"Let's commence." The judge said.

"Defence, you may call your next witness."

Clearing my throat and falling back into professionalism, I said, "Thank you, your Honour. I call to the stand Hye-Kyo Vasilakis." Standing from my chair, I slid my hands into my pockets waiting for her to make an entrance and glancing back at the seats to make sure she was actually here.

Her heels clicked on the floor as she walked past us, passing by me to the stand. Francesca stared open mouth at her, only snapping out of her trance when the Bailiff began the swearing her in.

"State your name to the court." He said to her.

"My name is Hye-Kyo Vasilakis." She said her Italian accent strong. Jennie leaned back in her chair, watching calmly, but I could see the tight hold she had on the arm of the chair.

"Ms. Vasilakis, who are you to my client?" I started, walking up to the podium.

"I'm Jennie's birth mother." The loud gasps followed by the few people that were in the room was granted.

"Objection! You can't expect us to believe this?" Francesca's lawyer jumped up from his seat. Not that it was needed, their resemblance was uncanny. Not a feature missed.

"Evidence all right here your Honour." I said, holding up the papers I had in my hands. The judge and the Bailiff read it, eyes casting a glance at Hye-Kyo then to Jennie and back to the paper.

"Substantial evidence, you may proceed Miss Kim." The judge said, passing the papers back to me. Her lawyer dropped back in his chair sighing; his sad face clear as day to the situation.

"Why did you leave Jennie with her father?" I started after I placed the papers back on the table, no need to start with irrelevant information when it was already proven that she was Jennie's mother.

"My parents would have forced me to give her up for adoption so I did what I thought was right."

"And did the fact that he was abusive ever cross your mind when you left her with him?" I quoted the words abusive with my fingers.

"I never knew Joong-Ki was an abusive man so no it never crossed my mind." Her brows furrowed slightly in confusion. She probably wasn't here for the first half.

"You call him Joong-Ki, why is that?"

"We were romantically involved a long time ago."

"Why did you leave him if you were romantically involved as you say?"

"Objection! Irrelevance?"

"I have a point your honour." I spoke up.

"Then make it."

"My parents demanded us to be broken up else they would have black listed his family name and he would have no more business dealings in Italy and a great amount of it was based in Italy."

"Who left who?"

"I left him not wanting him to take that risk even though he wanted too."

"How do you know that?"

"He told me he wanted a life with me and that no family name or no money could take away his love." I really appreciated her honesty and all of it made me cast a subtle glance to Jennie to make sure she was not bubbling over with uncontrolled anger. She was weirdly calm and that scared me even more.
