“A friendly Basketball match between the senior Girls and the Boys team to be held on the school grounds day after tomorrow. Captains of both the teams should be giving in their names of the final five players by today to the Coach, Mr. Scott.”

Okay. What the hell? There was NO chance that our team could win. Absolutely NONE. The players of the Boys team were as tall as the Eifel Tower. Plus, all of them had huge muscles. They had been practicing to play since they were in class three. While we had our girls team made two years back only. One, we were out of practice and two, the boys were jackasses. The worst part was that I was the girls team’s captain and Rob was of the boy’s. I remember the times when we used to play one to one a year back. I used to wait for the clock to strike six so that I could run to the park and play with him. Those were days that one could never forget. We had had memories that were all connected to basketball. Say good, or say worse. After one basketball game, he had told me that he loved Alisha and that he was soon gonna propose her. That day, I could never forget. Each day after that practice, he would tell me how much he loved her and how much effort he was trying to put in to let her love him back. I knew both of them better than they knew themselves. Rob was madly in love with Alisha while Alisha was just using Rob for his popularity. That was the thing about them that still hurts. Alisha did not deserve him. I did. If only we could get what we desired for in life.

The day of the match was here. The girls were all set to lose. However, as I was the captain, it was my job to motivate the girls.

“hmm. So, here we are,” I started off, standing up. The girls looked completely disinterested. Yet, just for the sake of listening to me, they looked at me.

“I know it is next to impossible to win against them, but at least we can try! Issac Newton once said-” I continued until I was cut off.

“Sam, come here. There is a change in the team.” Mrs. Roe called out. I turned and went towards her.

“yes?” I said.

“Victoria, you’re out. Jennifer, in.” Mrs. Roe said.

I was dumbstruck. I looked at her as if she hit me with a knife. I raised my eyebrows and pulled Mrs. Roe aside.

“Okay, ma’am what is wrong with you? Jennifer Eriksen can not play.” I said, shrugging.

Mrs. Roe scowled. “Just because you’re the captain does not mean you can take all the decisions. What I’ve said is final. Jennifer Eriksen will be playing this match.” She said and went away.

“just because you’re the captain does not mean you can take all the decisions.” I repeated In her voice. Well, like duh. What else is a captain supposed to be doing?

Weird world, full of weird people.

“all set for the game?” someone called from behind.

With that bitchy voice, it was pretty evident who it was. One and only, Sadie Stinson.

The lead cheerleader. My worst enemy. I rolled my eyes and turned around.

“what do you want?” I asked, spitting out the words.

I realized how terrible she looked. She described a true blonde. Halter neck top, next to nothing skirt, blonde hair, pink pom-poms, face looked as if it was transparent, she had put that much make-up. Her eyes had dark circles under them, but then I realized that it was the kajal that she was wearing. In short, she looked hideous.

“Why so serious? I just came to wish you good luck.” She said, giving her ultra evil smirk.

“Good luck for what? Good luck to lose? No thanks, blondie. Why don’t you go concentrate on how much cleavage you have to show to those assholes? Screw away, you.” I said, going towards the ground.
