TOO LATE
The restraining order has been filed. They went to a tertiary care center for a medico-legal. Mannex decided to help Ingrid by bringing the matters to court. They filed many charges against Ansel.
"The defendant committed multiple crimes under the law. He violated the Republic Act No. 9262, because of the numerous time of violating his wife's dignity by physically, mentally, and verbally abusing her even in front of their children. Your honor, here are the medico-legal of the victim. To support the claim, I present you a doctor who's not afflicted to anyone of us."
"You're insane." Ansel hissed.
The doctor took the ought that he'll tell the truth. They questioned the doctor about the evidence. Mannex added that Ansel committed concubinage and grave threat.
It took three trials to finally get the verdict of the judge.
"We, the Jury, find the defendant, Ansel Payton Domingo, guilty." They also announce the charges that Ansel will face in prison.
"You can't beat me when you're at my den. In fact, you'll never." He put his hand in his pocket. "By the first time, you lay your hand on her, it's the end of your life. Keep that in mind, bro."
After announcing the verdict, Ingrid hugged Mannex. "Thank you Mannex. Thank you so much."
"I'm just doing my job." He said then he lightly hugged her back.
"I don't know what to say. I'm really grateful to you, Mannex."
"Love!" The woman said while walking towards Mannex and Ingrid. They released each other from the hug.
"How was the trial?" The woman asked.
"It was good, it ended pretty well." Mannex cleared his throat, went closer to the woman, and placed his hand on her waist. "Ingrid, she's Atty. Cyrene Galvez, my fiancée." Cyrene offered her hand.
"Your fiancée..." Ingrid shakes her hand. "It's nice meeting you."
"You're Mannex's friend, right? You should attend our wedding, it's in September. I'll send you the invitation." Cyrene said.
"I-I'm sorry, I-I need to go," Ingrid said then she walks away and didn't even look back.
From that point, she finally understands that even before, she was in love with Mannex and infatuated with Ansel.
"You can't do anything, Ingrid. He's already happy with someone else." She said to herself.
