Fake scenario of me and my s/o
[Happy early birthday!! I know it's like 40 days until your birthday but I finished this earlier than I thought I would. So yeah- I didn't want to force words down your throat that you wouldn't have said in real life, so to anything I say in the story you can make up a response of your own, these can be placed in the boxes i put there myself and anywhere else you want. I'll update the story with your replies and we'll see how it turns out! Just a little D&D-esque experiment I thought would be fun to do.]

[Little fyi, I would've gotten you a tail irl if I could've lol-]

Nite wakes up in the hotel bed, woken up suddenly when he remembered what today was. Excitement courses through his veins. He slips out of bed and runs into the bathroom to pull on their favourite outfit. The weather is perfect for the clothes, to his delight. As he pulls their clothes on he notices a phantom limb has been triggered during the rush. No matter, not an easy thing to ignore but now isn't the time to pay too much attention to it. They race out of their room and down the hallway of the hotel with a bag on their shoulders. The forest isn't too far away, so he could probably make it the whole way just running. But he slowed and took a breath, trying to calm himself down in front of the people watching him run down the hall like a madman. He walks much slower down to the exit and out the door. The cold air a welcoming greeting to one who had just woken up. He sighs loudly and makes his way down to the woods, ready for whatever this first meet would bring.

Nite finally arrives at the forest entrance, and breaks into a run. Finally, they would meet. He's just around the corner from him, and he is waiting for them too. The forest whistles and rustles as he runs over the leaves, and a couple squirrels rush up the trees. Heart racing as the ground crunches beneath their feet. He could practically see Mori right in front of them. Thats because he does.
"Love! I-" Mori calls out at the sight of Nite, but they ram right into him and the two fall to the rocky path. Nite's palms scrape on the tiny jagged stones that had collected on the path.
"Are you alright!?" Mori exclaims. Nite simply smirks and laughs a little under his breath.
"Well, you're clearly excited! And so am I! Finally I get to meet you!" Mori replies, unphased by the fall. Pure joy spreads through his eyes, even though there's a snood covering his lower face Nite could tell he's beaming. The two sit on the ground in silence for a couple seconds, waiting for the other to say something. [your process of the situation here] Mori suddenly laughs a little.
"Sorry, even around you I'm feeling too anxious to start a comver- uh, conversation." Nite reassures him that it's okay, Mori proceeds to stand up and he offers his hand to Nite. Nite takes his hand and lifts himself up. Mori suddenly pulls him into a hug. Nite feels a little spooked at this, but eventually embraces it and smiles to themself.
"God, you look awesome in person." Mori says. He laughed a little near the end of his words.
"You too love." Nite replies.
"Oh! By the way, I got you something!" Mori says, he pulls off the thinly weaved backpack he was wearing and pulls out a small furry lump. Nite takes a closer look at it, and realises it's a blonde faux fur fox tail, matched to their kintype. He is shocked at this, but even more excitement spreads over his face.
"You want to put it on?" Nite takes the tail from Mori and he clips it to the back of their trousers. He looks over his shoulder at the tail, grinning widley.
"Glad you like it, I thought you could use it for quadrobics if you wanted to." Mori says, standing now and smiling under the mask. "Maybe not now though, we aren't very far from the entrance, how about we keep walking?" Mori picks up his bag and pulls out a second tail, it was a raccoon one. He clips it to his own belt and throws his bag back on. The two start to walk deeper into the woods.
As they both continue walking, there is more silence. The two in a world of their own in a way, but they are both extremely happy to see the other.
"Ugh! Just- God I'm so glad to see you! I cannot express that enough to get it all out there." Mori exclaims after a minute, he has difficulty expressing his emotions when they are too much. Nite simply looks over and doesn't reply, but Mori calms down after the mini outburst.
As the two chat they enter a narrower passage covered with vines, Mori lifts the leafy strands for Nite, allowing them to walk through. They continue to walk a bit farther down, and Nite hears a sudden rustling behind him. He abruptly turns his head over his shoulder, only to be met with more forest.
"You alright?" Mori asks, putting his hand in Nite's.
"Sorry, uh.. just heard something." Mori looks over to where Nite was looking, but still nothing is there. In fact, they are significantly far from the entrance to the vine entrance at this point.
"This is actually my first time being in the forest without family here to carefully hawk over my every move. It's nice."
Then something strange starts to happen. Nite's heart begins to feel as if it's beating much faster for almost no reason, and it feels as if an entirely new substance has taken the place of the blood coursing through his veins. It is an oddly comforting sensation, and probably a side effect of the excitement. Maybe a panic shift. No, definitely a panic shift. They wince and start to fight back some small groans.
"Is something wrong?" Mori asks again, grasping Nite's hand even tighter. Concern is present in his face.
"N-no, I'm fine," The feeling doesn't cease, but Mori's presence is a slight comfort. As their heart continues to race even faster the world around him seems to become more vivid. Every leaf, every branch, every pattern suddenly becomes individual to Nite's eyes. Oddly beautiful. Something physical is happening now, and it doesn't seem to be stopping. Some kind of genuine, but thankfully mild pain begins to occur within their bones. He clutches his stomach and feels rather sick.
"Love??" Mori says, kneeling down with Nite. They wince through the pain, disoriented and uncomfortable. Mori noticed a blonde-ish substance growing on Nite's arm. Hair? No, fur.
"Wh-what the hell?!" Nite exclaims.
"Uh- Nite, what's happening?" Mori asks, completely oblivious to the situation. Then it seems to strike him, suddenly. "Holy shit. Holy shit! I uh- who- How?! No, that's not what's happening." Shock and worry fills Nite's eyes.
"It's not supposed to be possible! It's a work of fiction. I made up the idea of people becoming yokai, it couldn't happen!"
The pain seems to increase even more as Nite's overwhelming agony grows. Speaking of growing, his ears have begun to grow in size. Growing hair the same shade as that on their arms and becoming pointed. Mori grunts on his knees beside Nite, the strange sensation beginning to course through his body as well.
"Ugh.. oh God. Love, it think it's happening to me too." He says. Visible panic appears in his eyes. "I- Gnh! I don't even know what I'd be! My otherkin species, maybe. But- Ugh!" He grunts again and kneels down with his arms over his head. Nite feels his hands' very shape and form changing, a light fur spreading from his shoulders begins to cover his hands. Black leathery pads appear on his palms and his nails turn dark and long. A horrible crackling noise coming from his hands.
"Oh god-!" He screams. His legs seem to bend backward like that of a fox's, and fur runs up his legs from his feet, which have become almost identical to their hands. Nite looks over at Mori, wincing through the discomfort. He is contorted in a clearly pain induced position, with his legs up to his stomach and an expression that shows the desire for it to just end already. His arms now completley coated in fur, sporting long claws and lighter or darker patters here and there. Over the sound of their own body breaking apart and reforming into the form they have desired for such a long time, he can hear Mori experiencing the same agony. Nite's ears now reach the exact image of a kitsune's, and his hair begins to change colour near the ends, from night-sky black into a colour identical to the fur. It goes from it's usual texture to an almost fluffy material with small remnants of the normal feeling there. His head is flooded with pure shock and confusion.
"A-Are you okay?!" Mori calls out through his pain. His voice slightly distorted now, significantly deeper. His nose and moth are still concealed under the snood by some miracle, and even through pain he intends to keep it this way. Both of their grunts and yells are now growls and yelps like that of a dog's, to Mori's dismay. As Nite experiences the one thing that could change both of their lives forever he thinks. Paws and claws now take the place of Nite's hands and feet, and dread filled his lungs as he feels his tailbone split into multiple endings and tear from his trousers. His claws dug deep into the dirt as he arched his back, but the pain is most defnitley coming to an end. Their nose begins to change to a strange shade of black, and white patterns start to form around his eyes and nose bridge. As his eyesight blurs slightly his pupils change to slits that glow a bright LED-like light, sporting a black sclera. His teeth become so sharp they pierce through his tongue and cause a little bleeding. Then he notices something strange, nothing seems to be happening to his torso or face. Maybe it was like Mori's "Tanuki-faun" thing? Finally, releif washes over his face and through his body as he collapsed to the grassy floor in releif. Now he bears three tails that flowed in the wind, white-blonde paws on his legs and hands, strange patterns almost all over, and unfortunatley torn up clothes. Mori was still struggling with his transformation, curled up on the floor in almost silent agony. He now has a tail as well, a wildly discontorted pair of tanuki legs, patterns across his face similar to Nite's, a strange new hair colour that wasn't too different from his old colour, and tanuki ears on the sides of his head which were already folded over in pain. The snood still covering half his face, Mori isn't willing to let the joke die out that easily, even through this kind of pain. Finally, the pain stops for Mori too and he relaxes all his limbs. He looked over to Nite, who was [looking away, trying to comfort or other] He grunts and attempts to stand on his strange new legs. Thankfully he was a tanuki, and not some kind of other bizzare creature. He puts one of his paws on Nite's shoulder, [however you react here] and he pulls Nite into an abrupt hug again. This time he is simply releived they were both alright. He was both euphoric and extremely terrified. Nite is still rather perplexed at the whole situation. They both embrace the other nonetheless, without words for what just happened. Mori whimpers a little, fighting back tears. Nite isn't sure what kind of tears these are, but overall he is probably extremely disoriented.
"I- so.. now what? Love, I'm scared, what do we do??" Mori is extremely panicked, glancing around to make sure nobody sees them.
"This all seems.. a little familiar."
"What do you-" Then they both hear a voice, it seems to whisper in their ears.
"Shinjitsu no katarite. Shinjitsu no katarute. Shinjitsu no katarute."
"Truth telling ghost?.." Mori mutters under his breath. "It might be some kind of o-other yokai. I mean- look at us. There's n-no reason for all of that other s-stuff to not exist either."
"Shinjitsu no katarite."
"Wh-Who's there?!" Mori calls out, struggling to speak considering the current form of his body. Nite stays silent in his own confusion. Then an elderly woman appears before them suddenly, Nite and Mori almost falls backward at her sudden appearance.
"Hello. I apologise for causing you to go through all that, but you cannot enter our territory with any kind of disguise." Nite doesn't reply, remaining confused.
"M-Miss, we weren't disguised at all." Mori says, trying to stay calm.
"Oh, but you were dears."
"No no, we aren't yokai, Ma'm."
"Well, I beg to differ." She says, gesturing to Mori and Nite's wildly contorted bodies. "We are Shinjitsu no Katarute. We know all, and see all." She adds. Nite begins to consider the idea of her just being a mental old woman who happened to stumble upon him and Mori turning into.. well. Whatever this could be. Her expression then changes.
"Well, that's strange. You weren't yokai at all before I encountered you," She says, a little surprised at this. "I apologise, I'm not sure why you became one of us if you weren't disguised." Nite's thoughts begin to race, what on earth does that even mean?
"I-Can your uh.. 'powers' m-malfunction?" Mori says, still stuttering.
"I don't believe so.. I am so sorry. Please escort yourself away from here, I cannot allow humans into our territory. You are now sworn to Imrie's law, please obey as you should, or else it could end horribly for you." She then disappears with the wind, no trace of her ever being there was left behind.
"I-Imrie's law? Love, I'm not sure how, but-"
"W-what's that?"
"Imrie's law is the law forced upon shifters and mythical beings in THCOTE. W-We're in one of the universes I made up.." Mori held his clawed hand to his head and started breathing heavily.
"N-no way. That wouldn't make any sense." Mori had no response. Nite began to panic too.
The two leave the narrow passage, struggling to take in everything they had just discovered.
"So.. this might just be the weirdest thing to happen to me throughout my entire life... But it is kind of awesome." Nite looks at Mori, understanding where he's coming from but also not.
"I-I know it's so weird, but we just turned into our otherkin species and we're in the same place for the first time in our lives! It's just.. too perfect, you know?"
