Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport,

 Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

VANI

The airport was chaos, filled with unseen faces hustling and bustling with their luggage to reach their destination while some were running with tearful eyes to the welcoming arms of their loved ones.

Reaching the airport, Vani took out her second-hand, centuries-old mobile phone, which she rarely used for conversing with her friends as she considered them to be a distraction from her studies. Dialling her cousin's mobile number, she stood there waiting for her response. When she didn't get her anticipated response, she frowned and thought, "Is she busy with some work? Mother said that she should have been here by now. Did her flight got delayed?" Presuming the worst, her mind already started calculating all the numerous possibilities but a call from her cousin broke her intrusive thoughts bringing her out of her subconsciousness.

"Vani, can you please come to the Oberoi Grand Hotel? My flight had already landed 2 hours ago, I came to the hotel because I had business there. I also wanted to introduce you to someone." informed Tanya Didi with her absurd request of asking me to come to the hotel."' If she has already landed then why ask me to come? She can finish her business in the hotel and arrive later herself. For god sake, she is a grown adult.' I thought about her ridiculous demand. ' She is your relative. Of course, you would need to help her.' my subconscious mind reminded me. "Do you have a reservation made? When will you be arriving at our home?" I asked after thinking about the request for a moment.

" I have a reservation made under the name of Tanya Choudhary. I have already sent you the reservation details and informed your parents so there is no need of worrying, you just come fast," answered Tanya Didi. "Okay, I am coming there." I accepted while opening my mobile to see her text.

Arriving at the hotel, I was fascinated by its magnificent architecture. Its intricate designs surely did a wonder captivating the curiosity of the people. The exterior as well as the interior of this gigantic landmark was sumptuous. This hotel was a gorgeous affair in every respect. It was heavily guarded with a wave of guards armed with weapons. Looks like some important business event is going on here. Confirming my identity and reservation details, the receptionist finally took me to private hall reserved for premium guests.

Rich Businessmen, politicians, conglomerates and bureaucrats were present here. It seems like didi found herself a big shot this time to get invited in such an exclusive place. I mean She herself is an influential person, who wouldn't want her as their manager or secretary. It was not first time that she had called me to introduce me to her comrades or business partners, she always told me that I had good observational and conversational skills and potential to grow in this field. but who would convince my parents? According to them, engineering was the best option for me.  A call from my cousin broke my reverie and brought me to the real world. As soon as I received the call, my sister inundated me with questions. Answering her questions while trying to locate her, I finally found her conversing with a lady.

"Oh, here you are! I wanted to introduce you to a few people," she said as soon as her eyes fell on me. "What do you mean? When will you be coming to the house? Do you still have any unfinished business left here? I thought you were done with everything and wanted me to come to fetch you since you are here." I answered, appearing infuriated that so much of my time was wasted and she just wanted to introduce me to someone I didn't even know. My patience was on the brink of diminishing.

"Calm down, young lady," she said playfully as if she hadn't done anything wrong.

"Okay, so are you going to waste my time more or come home with me because I am not feeling inquisitive enough to meet anyone." As soon as I uttered these words out of my mouth and before she could comprehend the meaning of my words, she got a call from her boss and excused herself from listening to whatever queries the lady had. I was bewildered. As soon as I turned around to move to the waiting area so she could finish her business with her boss.
