Her eyes fluttered open. She sat up and looked all around her, not quite certain where she was. She was on a beach with the whitest sand she had ever seen, and a wall of water rising in front of her. The sun was shining brightly. She stood up and looked around again, then she looked down at herself. This wasn't how she remembered her body to be. She was young again.
She caught a glimpse of three people off in the distance. It seemed as if they might be coming towards her. They drew closer and closer. The shorter one, who was obviously a girl with long flowing hair, was skipping ahead of the other two. Finally they were close enough that she could see them clearly.
"Susan!" The girl hollered as she ran closer.
"Lucy?"
"Of course it's me!" Lucy laughed.
"We've been waiting for you." Peter said. Susan furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Was this another dream?
"We knew you'd come to your senses someday." Edmund said in his teasing way.
"W-where am I?" Susan asked.
"Where do you think?" Peter asked smiling.
"But-it couldn't be." She breathed.
"That's what we all thought when we came." Lucy said remembering the exact moment she and her brothers had arrived.
"But-but we're dead, and I thought none of us could ever come back anyways." Susan said, very puzzled.
"This isn't Narnia, Su. This is Aslan's country, well the beginning of it, where all Narnians come when they die." Edmund explained.
"C'mon," Lucy said grabbing her sister's wrist. "everyone we knew is here: Mr. Tumnus, the beavers, Aravis, Cor, trumpkin, Caspian, everyone! They'll be anxious to see you."
"But, don't they think I'm a traitor?"
"But you've changed, Su, as many traitors do." Edmund assured her, and those words were particularly assuring coming from him since he himself had also been a traitor.
"And once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen." A voice behind her added. Susan whipped around to see the great lion standing before her.
"Aslan!" She embraced him, burying her face in his mane.
"Queen Susan," He said as she stepped back to face him. "because you have believed I am allowing you into my country for all of eternity." Then he roared a great roar, the kind that sends chills down your spine. The water opened up and revealed a luscious field of grass. It was so bright and brilliant it seemed to glow. And inside Susan could see the familiar faces of many Narnians. Peter, Edmund, and Lucy all ran inside motioning for her to follow. As she entered Aslan spoke:
"Welcome home, dear Susan, welcome home."
