Veronica's Death Case

It was 8 o'clock in the morning when we arived at the crime scene. We received a report that a mürder case just happened here last night at 9:00 pm.

"Inspector, do we have any witnesses here?" i asked the inspector who accompanied me to investigate the case.

"uh, i think we have her brother. yes, he's our witness." said the inspector as he observe the environment.

"it's a bit abandoned here." i said while looking at the house that was said to be the crime scene.

"let's take a closer look inside." the inspector said and so i agreed.

While walking inside, bloods were scattered onto the wall. Seems like the one who killed the victim is a murderer. As we roam further, I noticed a room with an opened door.

"here inspector." i called him immediately. He walked closer to the room and slowly push the door and fortunately we found a dead body.

We both investigated the room as we call the police to study the dead body of the victim. The other detectives went to the other rooms to collect more data.

I was leaning to the wall because of tiredness when suddenly my pen fell to the ground and rolled below the table. I took a closer look and found a note. It's not just a note, it's a message from somebody.

"THE NEXT NOTE IS BELOW THE ROCKING CHAIR." I quickly search the rocking chair and it was just beside the bed.

"THE NEXT NOTE IS AT THE DOOR MAT." I rushed to the door mat and found the other note.

"THE NEXT NOTE IS ON VERONICA'S PEN." I found one of her pen in her table.

"CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE ALMOST THERE! THE NEXT NOTE IS PLACED OUTSIDE. SEARCH IT." I ran outside and stood up by the door step, i quickly realized that i am stepping to the last note.

"THE LAST NOTE IS AT THE VICTIM'S BODY." After reading the note, one of the laboratory staff called me.

"hello, Mr. Detective. I found a note inside the victim's body. I can't read it. It seems to be a cipher. You better check this mr. Thank you." that was the information and so I arrived quickly at the laboratory.

I claimed the note and it says

"JXOZL FP QEB HFIIBO. EB PQXXYBA JV PFPQBO TFQE X PEXOM HKFCB XKA PELQ EBO EBXA TFQE EFP FIIBDXI PELQDRK! key-3"

I immediately went to the head quarters and encrypt the message. I studied codes for years so its a bit easy for me to decipher this one.

"The message is MARCO IS THE KILLER. HE ST*BBED MY SISTER WITH A SHARP KN*FE AND SHÖT HER HEAD WITH HIS ILLEGAL SH*TGUN!" Marco is the victim's boyfriend. We asked the victim's information and private life to her brother, Joshua.

"inspector, i found out who the killer is and how he killed her." I called the inspector and informed him everything.

"How can you assure?" he asked.

"i found a note from the victim's brother, he's our witness, right? you've mentioned that he's our witness earlier."

"okay, bring here the said evidence and let's check the result." he answered then hang up the call. Immediately, I rushed to the laboratory and asked the one who inspected Veronica's body.

"Mr., the autopsy result says Veronica was killed by being stabbed with a knife and was shot in her head by a shotgun." one of the representatives informed us.

"The autopsy result had coincide to the note that i've encrypted so it means the real k*ller was totally her boyfriend." i said to the inspector.

"i guess, our only problem is to search for Marco." the inspector replied.

The police started to search for Mr. Marco when suddenly my phone just vibrated in my pocket. I pick up the phone call with a stranger's number in it.

"I know that the police are searching for me, I'm missing, right? Give me 10 million dollars in exchange I will surrender to the police." that's all he have said and hang up the phone. I tracked his location but instead of locatin him, he gave me a place where I will give him the money. I knew it was Marco, he's the most wanted suspect in the whole town.

"Mr. inspector, I just received a call from Marco, he asks for ransom and we will meet at this place." I said while lending him Marco's message.

"We'll create a plan for this, follow me." He said and I followed him.

He said we'll meet at 8 o'clock in the evening at his stated address so that no people will see us. He totally make sure that he'll get the money. A wise killer, to be specific.

"I've arrived and I have the money. Where are you?" I called him by his random number and he responded.

"I am standing beside the fruit cart across the street." He said that made my eyes roam around. He wave his left hand and so I walk across. Without hesitation, i hand him the bag of money. I walked back to my position and as he inspect the bag, he realized that it was a fake money so the other police came out pointing the gun into him while he was pointing a gun at me.

"Surrender now Marco or else you will end up being toasted by us." As he heard the police shouting, he suddenly drop the bag of money and raised his both hands by his head and after a couple of seconds, he suddenly run faster.

"Oh no." he whispered. The raining bullets didn't made him stop from running away instead he runs more faster. He's unbelievable!

More police were at the end of the street and as we chase him he stopped when he reached the end of the street cornering him with our other polices.

"Surrender or die?" I asked him sarcastically.

"Okay, I admit I killed Veronica. But please let me explain my side also." He said while sobbing.

"Explain yourself at the police station, Mr. Marco. You are now hand cuffed and being arrested for murdering Ms. Veronica Allen." The police said and we all brought him to the station.

He's about to enter the cell when I suddenly called him.

"Wait Marco, let's talk for some while, i will just ask him few questions." I said and both of the jail personel agreed.

"You said you would explain your side, right? You can explain to me everything. How- why did you kill Veronica?"

"July 14, it was raining at 9:00 in the evening when I arrived late from work. I was so exhausted and expect Veronica to surprise and spoil me with her sweet hugs and kisses but i was the one who's surprised. I found Veronica making love with another man and because of anger, I killed the man and threw him to the sea while I asked Veronica how could she do that thing to me. I left being a serial killer just because of my love for her and she'll do that thing on me? She responded that she don't love me anymore so she left my house. I chase after her and stabbed her back, i went back to get my shotgun and shoot her head, placed her to my basement and that made me realized everything." He said as his tears are slowly falling down from his naked eyes.

"Okay, thank you. I now understand everything." I said and both of us stood up leading him to enter the cell. I searched for the man and bury both him and Veronica in peace.

Sometimes, everyone can do everything for love and because of love. Literally, this is what love can do.
