I glared at the fake Ricky before me, punching the glass capture tube once again. I knew it was pointless to try and break it, the blood trickling down my knuckles and staining my shirt was enough to tell me that, but I still refused to give up. Ricky grinned at me again as he rested his forehead against my prison.
"Awww you're not glad to see me? Too bad." He pouted and I huffed, wordlessly turning to face the other way. I could hear him chuckling darkly to himself as a wave of blue light washed over the room. I could only assume that the monster behind me had transformed back into his true self. My guess was confirmed when I head him speak.
"Now, where could my heat modulator be?" The Thingy's voice was deeper than I had expected, so much so that it made me jump. Discreetly, I glanced over my shoulder to see if I could figure out what this alien was planning. He pottered around, tinkering with wires and otherworldly objects I had never seen before. Curious and no longer afraid, I pressed my face up to the glass to get a better look. Lights flashed and, though muffled, I could hear distant beeps and whirring. My breath steamed up the tube so I lifted my sleeve to wipe it away. I regretted my decision as soon as the fog was clear because, somehow, the Thingy was stood right in my line of vision, causing me to look deep into it's lifeless eyes.
I stumbled back, clumsily swiping at the air in front of me incase it came inside. The alien laughed again and shook it's giant head.
"Poor little (Y/n)."
"H-how do you know my name?!" I gasped, a cold terror creeping up my spine.
"Oh (Y/n)," It placed a slender hand against the glass, "I've been here for much longer than you think..." It was smirking widely, "How's your ankle?"
I froze. No, there was no way! Tentatively, I reached down and let my fingers graze over my ankle, the one I had twisted when we arrived on the mountain two days ago. My eyes met it's again and my terror morphed into a sickening sinking feeling.
"What do you want from us, why are you doing this?" I cried, hitting my first against my prison again. The alien stopped suddenly and bowed his head. Confused, I also stopped, letting my hands drop to my sides. Studying it's face, my eyes widened when I realised what I was seeing. Sadness? I opened my mouth to speak but was instantly cut off by a harsh:
"That's none of your business. Now stay quiet while I fix this engine."
Flinching, I slumped down onto the floor and buried my face in my hands. Was this Thingy actually bad? Did it plan to hurt us or was there something else it was doing? And why did it look sad just then? Thoughts raced around my mind. Ways to escape, theory's of the aliens motives, answers as to why my face was still flushed despite the cold air. My mind was blank. Frustrated, I pulled at my hair, raising my head to stare at the blue alien who had taken me captive. It...he was focused on some strange metal box. I started wishing I'd payed more attention when Jimmy was trying to teach me about tech and stuff.
With a groan, I weighed up my options. Nothing really stood out to me as a plan with any chance of success so I went with the next best option.
"Sooooo.... Where ya from?"
Small talk.
He turned to look at me, unimpressed. Giving him a small, sheepish smile and shrug, I closed me eyes.
"What? You were the one who kidnapped me and decided to give me nothing to do. The least you could do is talk to me!" I know I sounded very relaxed and apathetic but on the inside I was still a terrified mess. Every fiber of my being was telling me to just 'SHUT UP' before that thing killed me but I still pressed on. If I could just find out some information about him, anything I could use to either find a weakness to exploit, how to break this glass cage or, better yet, get him to let me go himself.
I looked up at him hopefully.
"Fine, I'll humor you." I let myself grin at his words.
"Thank you." Best to stay polite, just incase.
"I'm from, what you humans call, the Andromeda galaxy. We're neighbours with your pathetic little Milky Way, just a couple million lightyears away." He spoke as he worked. I hummed in fake interest, hoping he go on. "On our planet we are much more advanced, technologically and biologically." The Thingy boasted, "it's why our brains are so much larger, greater capacity, you see?" With that he turned to give me a knowing look. I nodded and raised my eyebrows as a sign to keep talking. He rolled his eyes and sighed, muttering something under his breath in a language I didn't understand. He really wasn't giving me much. Well, guess it's my turn.
"Do you have robots like Jimmy on your planet?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
"Jimmy? Oh the android I... Yes. Similar but ours are more advanced of course."
"Of course." I agreed.
"No matter how sweet and innocent you act, darling, it's not going to stop me from carrying out my plan."
"Hm, what plan?" I asked as casually as I could. In reality I was dying inside. The anticipation that he might tell me was burning!
"Nice try sweet heart but I'm not that stupid." I clenched my teeth, throwing my head back to hit the wall and groaning loudly.
"But if you're gonna kill me then why does it matter if I know what your stupid, evil plan is?!" My body twitched as my brain began to scramble more. It had no idea how to feel in this situation. Annoyed, frustrated, angry, hopeless, nothing? Blood pulsed in my ears and my face began getting hot once again as I felt the Thingy's stare lingering on me. Stomach twisting, head swimming, I dared looked back at him.
Then we stayed, for a minute or two, completely still. Just staring into each others eyes. I still don't know how I felt, it was pretty empty in my head then. I don't think I thought at all. It was quiet. I stared. It was bright. He stared. I looked deeper. And it clicked.
"You...you want to go home...?"
"I...I..."
.
.
.
He left.
