Chapter 7:
Claire raced back to her hotel room, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to process everything that had just happened. She knew that she was in serious danger now - The Network would stop at nothing to protect their secrets.
She plugged in the flash drive and began to sift through the information. As she read through the files, she was shocked by what she found. The Network's influence went far beyond what she had ever imagined - they controlled everything from the stock market to the military, and they were willing to do anything to maintain their power.
Claire realized that she was in possession of some of the most incriminating evidence ever uncovered against The Network. She knew that she had to get the information out to the public, but she didn't know how.
After careful consideration, she decided to reach out to a trusted journalist who had worked with her on past cases. She arranged to meet him in a secret location, and she handed over the flash drive.
The journalist was stunned by what he saw, and he promised to do everything in his power to get the information out to the public. But Claire knew that The Network would try to stop him, just like they had tried to stop her.
She decided to go into hiding, knowing that she was now a target. She cut off all communication with the outside world and moved from hotel to hotel, never staying in one place for too long.
But even in hiding, Claire couldn't escape the feeling that she was being watched. She knew that The Network was closing in on her, and she could feel their presence everywhere she went.
One day, while she was staying in a small town on the outskirts of the city, she received an unexpected visit. It was the journalist, and he looked terrified.
"They know," he said. "They know about the information. They're coming for both of us."
Claire knew that she had to act fast. She grabbed her bag and followed the journalist out of the hotel, but as they stepped outside, they were surrounded by a group of men in black suits.
The men grabbed Claire and threw her into a waiting car, while the journalist was dragged away kicking and screaming.
As the car drove off into the night, Claire knew that she was in for the fight of her life. She didn't know what The Network had planned for her, but she knew that she had to find a way to escape and get the information out to the public before it was too late.
