For the weeks that followed, I was always on edge, anticipating when would be the next time I see him but it never happened. I kept asking myself if it was a dream but the book I still had with me was proof of it's reality. It's only at another ball party where I finally saw him again.
I was once again sitting at a table, reading away at his book for what must be the hundredth time. A shadow suddenly came over me and I looked up to see Aziraphale standing next to me with a soft smile.
''Evening dear, I see you're enjoying the book I lent you quite a lot.''
I smile in return and close the book.
''It would seem so.''
I make a motion to give him back his book and he blocks it with his hand.
''You can take the time to finish it, I'm not in any hurry to get it back, besides, I trust you to keep it well maintained.''
''Oh no, I finished it ages ago I assure you, I just always carried it with me in case I saw you again and well.....balls really aren't too interesting so I was simply looking over it to kill time.''
He looks slightly surprised for a second before finally taking it back with what I can only describe as a fond smile.
''Well then, I suppose this means I may ask if you will indulge me in a walk, I am not particularly interested in parties either.''
''Of course, I'd love to.''
''Splendid! Let us go then.''
We both quietly leave the ball room to go roam around the property. When we finally reached empty corridors, we started talking again.
''Say Aziraphale, why do you go to balls if you don't like them?'' I ask with innocent curiosity.
''Well, let's just say I have a bit of a duty to go to some from time to time to keep an eye on things. If I could I would avoid them and stay home.''
''Hm, I'm curious as to what exactly your duties are but I won't press, maybe someday you'll tell me.''
He gives a relieved smile.
''I appreciate the respect Alzenia. Thank you.''
My heart flutters at my name coming out of his mouth. We stay silent for a few more minutes before I get the courage to say something again.
''May I confess something?'' I ask shyly.
He turns to me and grins softly.
''Of course, I am listening.''
''I read the book multiple times, not because of the story, but because it reminded me that we would see each other again. It makes me feel silly in hindsight if I'm honest.''
He seems taken aback and looks at me a little stunned for a bit. I swear I could see slight color on his cheeks. He looks away and I hear him laugh. I think he's laughing at me for a second before he turns back around and I see his reddened cheeks and mirthful expression.
''Apologies my dear, it's just.....you are absolutely adorable, I cannot help but be increasingly fond of you.''
I feel my face start to burn and I slowly stop walking. My chest feels like its light enough to make me fly. His laughter calms but his cheeks stay delightfully rosy.
''You aren't silly at all, in fact I was laughing because I also thought of you quite often.''
At this point we had both stopped walking and were simply standing in a secluded corridor. It was his turn to turn a little shy.

A dream I had featuring Aziraphale
FanfictionThis is a dream I had so he may he kinda out of character but this makes little sense as it was a dream after all. The era is hard to pinpoint, but it's kinda like the 1800's with some modern aspects (dreams make no fucking sense, again).
