"That's why I wanted you, since Longear is getting older she can't be a mentor properly any longer. You found Stormpaw so I wanted to see if you're willing to be a mentor to him." Crowstar asked. The question took BlazingFlame by surprise, he was made a warrior three moons ago! Could I? Could I be a mentor to Stormpaw? BlazingFlame thought, "CrowStar, we don't even know he's going to survive this, whoever did this to him wanted to kill him.." BlazingFlame meowed, hoping Crowstar wouldn't be upset. Crowstar nodded, seeming to understand what the young warrior meant. "I understand BlazingFlame, but if he did. Would you?" CrowStar asked. BlazingFlame thought hard about it, he liked the young tom, beside he wanted to see the fur-ball grow up. "Yes, if he makes it and he's able to continue his training I will." BlazingFlame meowed. Crowstar dismissed BlazingFlame, some time later BlazingFlame found himself on the SkyClan border. The flame colored tom sat there, watching the tree-tops. Suddenly a bush rustled and a golden tabby came out, it was Sunfall! "BlazingFlame? What are you doing here?" Sunfall meowed padding to the ThunderClan tom. "I-I just wanted to get away from camp for a bit.. One of our apprentices got hurt by something.. Or someone today." BlazingFlame confessed. Sunfall gasped, leaning forward he touched the flame colored tom ear with his nose. "Oh BlazingFlame.. I-I'm so sorry. Are they okay?" Sunfall asked sitting down to look at the ThunderClan tom. BlazingFlame nodded, "He's fine, his throat was badly wounded but he should be stable." BlazingFlame meowed. SunFall nodded, the pair sat like this for sometime until paw steps sounded in the distance coming from ThunderClan. BlazingFlame whipped around, "I have to leave, my clan might show up." BlazingFlame meowed looking at the other tom. SunFall nodded "So should I. '' Sunfall meowed, looking as if he wanted to say more. BlazingFlame nodded and began to set off until a voice sounded behind him, "Wait!" SunFall called after him. BlazingFlame looked around, fixing the tom with a curious stare. "Co-could we meet tonight? At the island?" Sunfall mumbled, BlazingFlame chuckled, "When?" BlazingFlame asked. Sunfall looked hopeful, "Moonhigh?" Sunfall meowed, BlazingFlame nodded. "I have to go fur-ball, We'll meet tonight I promise." BlazingFlame purred and waved his tail in goodbye. BlazingFlame was a good way away from the border, a funny feeling stirred in his belly at the thought of meeting with SunFall. BlazingFlame thought it would be best if he hunted in case the pawsteps found him. BlazingFlame caught the scent of a squirrel, following the scent he spotted the bushy tail of a squirrel. Creeping up slowly he began to creep closer to his prey. BlazingFlame wriggled his hindquarters and pounced, landing on the squirrel and biting its throat. Its warm blood tasted delicious on his tongue. Suddenly a cat pops out of the bushes in front of BlazingFlame, it was CherrySpring, again. "BlazingFlame! Stormpaw woke up, he wants to see you!" CherrySpring meowed, gasping around his squirrel he pelted towards camp, BlazingFlame crashed through the thorn barrier to see cats crowded around the medicine cat den. BlazingFlame padded to the crowd, pushing his way through. BlazingFlame spotted the young tom looking better, breathing a sigh of relief Blazingflame padded forward and dropped his squirrel at the young apprentice's paws. "I thought you might be hungry." BlazingFlame meowed as he sat down. The apprentice's gaze lit up at the sight of fresh-kill. Stormpaw began to hungrily devour the fresh-kill. "Thanks BlazingFlame! This is really good!" Stormpaw purred, it was like he was never hurt. "I do have a question, Stormpaw, do you know who attacked you?" BlazingFlame asked. Stormpaw looked away guilty, "No, I was getting herbs for BlackBelly and I took a break to get some water, whoever it was reeked of catmint, they attacked me from behind. Then everything went black.." Stormpaw mumbled. Blazingflame shook his head in sympathy. "Oh Stormpaw.. That must have been horrible. But I promise you're going to get better." BlazingFlame purred. Willowtail burst through the entrance quickly going to her son covering him with licks. BlazingFlame backed out of the den to see Crowstar standing under highledge, beckoning the young warrior over Crowstar padded in his den. BlazingFlame followed by padding in after the leader. "What may I do for you, Crowstar?" BlazingFlame spoke gazing at the tom. "I wanted to ask you the question about being Stormpaws mentor again." Crowstar spoke as he began cleaning his black fur. BlazingFlame was fond of the younger cat, he felt responsible for his safety, this could be the best way to keep him safe so his mother won't feel any more heartache. "Yes, I would be honored if I could mentor the young tom." BlazingFlame meowed. "Very well, I will announce it tonight, would you like me to tell the clans at the gathering in a few days?" Crowstar asked, tipping his head to one side. The thought of being talked about to the whole of the clans spooked BlazingFlame but he sucked it up. He was a part of a prophecy to save the clans! He can't be afraid now, he won't be afraid. "You can tell the clans, I don't mind." Blazingflame meowed. Crowstar dipped his head, needing to say no more Blazingflame left he crept down the slope. Blazing Flame looked up to see the sky darkening, soon he could meet the Skyclan tom again. Worry wormed in the thunderclan warrior's belly. What if we get caught? Will I still be able to be a mentor? BlazingFlame thought. Crowstar padded out of his den, looking around he spotted some of his warrior's already around. "Let all cats who can catch their own fresh-kill gather around Highledge for a Clan meeting!" Crowstar yowled, his voice ringing around the hollow. Cats began to slink out from their dens from where they were resting, the cats already awake murmured to each other as they sat down below highledge. Stormpaw padded slowly out of the medicine cat den, his wounds healing nicely. "I have two things to announce , Longear, please step forward." Crowstar meowed, the small she-cat padded forward to stand right below highledge. "I understand it is your wish to move to the elders' den and give up your warrior duties, is it not?" Crowstar asked. Low murmurs of shock rippled through the gathered cats. "Yes, I do wish to move to the elders' den." Longear meowed with a raspy voice. Stormpaw looked horrified, most likely wondering who was gonna be his new mentor, if he had a new mentor at all. Crowstar dipped his head to the new elder. "Then I grant you the new role of Elder." Crowstar meowed gazing fondly at the she-cat. "Now, the last thing to address, Stormpaw needs a new mentor, and I know the perfect cat for the job. BlazingFlame, please come forward." Crowstar added, looking at the flame colored tom. Murmurs broke out among the cats as BlazingFlame padded confidently to the front of the group. "I, CrowStar, wish to make BlazingFlame StormPaws new mentor. May Starclan guide their paws." Crowstar meowed. Stormpaw raced forward and stopped right in front of BlazingFlame, honor and great respect shown in the young tom's eyes as he looked at his new mentor. "I promise I'll make you proud of me BlazingFlame!" Stormpaw purred as he touched his nose to BlazingFlames. The clan chuckled at the young tom's spirit. "You already have Stormpaw." BlazingFlame whispered so just a few cats could hear. As the meeting was dismissed BlazingFlame could feel his paws pulling him towards his nest but it was about moonhigh. Stiffly a yawn he nodded to his clanmates and snuck out, he hoped to hunt so he could have a good excuse of leaving. Some time went by and he already had a good haul of prey. He could finally meet the SkyClan tom again!
