Alainas POV

Everyday I wake up, I brush my teeth, my hair, and do my makeup. I take a shower then eat breakfast. Fill my water bottle then leave the house. Wait for the bus and go to school. Greet my professor and take my seat. Open my laptop and begin working. I feel programmed as if I am a machine. I repeat my daily tasks until weekend. I sleep. I take time to clean and nap. I am every broke college student, I have a basic life. I work at a book shop, there is this one little girl named Bo. About 13 she loves to read and is quite good at it. "Hey Bo, what you looking for today?" I say to her with a smile. "The girls at school are talking about this one book… I think it's called Carless." She looks at me, I'm guessing she thinks I know we're it is. And she's right. "Of course I can get it for you If you wait here." She looks at me and nods. I go and get the book, the cover seems almost promising. Although I never read books if they have people on the cover. But Bo has a different taste so maybe she'll like it. "Here you are, Miss Bo. This the one?" I ask her but when she has it in her hands I know that it is. She only gets to come to the book shop once a week. Or that's what she told me anyway. "Yeah it is, thanks." She walks out looking at the back. I have never seen a kid so invested in books but I hope she stays that way. Well, after I work my shift I usually get take out. "Hi, can I get a ham and cheese sandwich with a coke please?" I ask the person running the register, her name is Maddy but I won't make it awkward for the both of us to say her name. We ask the people working the cash register like they can say no. "Of course ma'am and will you be using a rewards card with us today?" She looks at me waiting for an answer. "No thank you.'' I say. "Okay, just one moment… your total is $15.00." She says to me, This price is outrageous but I guess it's anything to talk to her. "Here." I give her it all in cash since their machines never work. "Have a good day!'' she practically yells at me cheerfully. Such an outstanding personality. I like looking at her face to face instead of through her window.

It's not creepy. It's love. Although her boyfriend is in my way. And the worst thing is, he's cheating on her. I would know because I know he lives also. Carol, I think, is the name of his other girlfriend. Horrific it is really. I can't get to Maddy without getting to him. Well I better go home. Maddy just fell asleep.
I need to work on cleaning my basement. Most basements in California are furnished but mine isn't, I never thought I would use it for anything but storage. But now… it needs to be liveable. I'm not a killer but I am crazy. And then I hear it. My alarm, it's time to get ready for work. I leave my house but I feel as if I'm forgetting something…. I don't know what but I can just go back if I remember what It is. "Good morning Terry, I'm going to be in the back today so if you don't see me that's why." Terry. My boss. "Yeah, yeah, just make sure you mop the floors before close today." He says to me almost disappointed. "Yes sir." I say sarcastically. Mop the floors. I'm not a janitor yet I always end up doing his work. Speaking of him. "You probably shouldn't touch those, their limited edition." He looks at me like I'm stupid. "I know, I work here. Mind your business." See I'm only so worried because he steals books all the time. And I'm usually the one who has to get new ones. "Hey I have an idea, go mop the floors. Ynow, do your job?" I almost laughed. He looks at me with such anger and his nose crinkled up like a witch's. 'Whatever" and that was the end of our conversation. And then suddenly I remember what I forgot, my water bottle. Not that big of a deal but It did have a lime in it so my house is going to smell very citrus-y when I get home. And then I see her. Maddy. She has her hair in a claw clip. Messy makeup and a sweater with jeans. Her blonde hair looks well with the green in her eyes. I knew she would look messy since she didn't take her morning shower like usual.

Maddy's POV

I always feel as if I'm being watched. Even though I'm not. I ended up not taking my morning shower, instead I worked more. Since i have free time I came here to get one for Bo. My friend doesn't let the kid out often so I suppose I'll be nice enough to get her the book she wanted. Bo is a smart  girl and her mom doesn't embrace it. But I get it honestly. The world is scary and has scary people. Stalkers, kidnappers, murderers. It's not safe for a thirteen-year-old girl to roam the streets. But then again her older brother works at the store so I think it would be okay for her to come here more than once a week. Back to topic though, I can get to gets Bos book, I think she said it was called….Careless?

Alainas POV

I know why she's here, to get the book I gave Bo. Careless. I can still help her find it. Since all the copies are in the back. "Hello miss can I help you look for anything?" I ask her. I know her to well. Or at least I think I do. "Uh yes actually, I need to find a book called .. Careless I think.." I knew it. She's so nice. But to clueless. About what's going to happen soon. It'll be tragic, but so beneficial. So much better for her. It will be for the best- "hello?"
"Oh, I guess I blanked out, sorry Maddy come with me" we walk over to the crime section I know the book won't be there but I can "look" for it. That's when it hit me. Maddy. I called her, Maddy. She doesn't know I know her name. I can feel the question "how did you know my name?" And I'll tell her "I don't know" and then she'll hate me. And know that I'm not stalking her per day, I'm just making sure that she is safe. And I just happen to know that tonight she is going to a party, it's funny because I think I might go to...
"Excuse me? You said that these were alphabetically ordered?" She looks at me waiting for an answer, "Yes ma'am" okay I need to focus on work. I go back to the back of the store and look through the books, and I can't help but to notice that one of the limited edition Doomsday books are gone. Only one other person that is here right now has a key. The janitor. Took the book, well I better grab the book Maddy wanted and be on my way out. "Here, this is it right?" I ask her, "yes thank you" She's so nice her boyfriend is such scum. She doesn't need him, she needs me.
